Any of you with the OEM blue topcase happen to have a receipt or install sheet with the honda part number on it? I can't track it down thru my dealer, or the UK. Thought if I had a number it might help.
Honda Part Number For 07 Anniversary Blue Topcase Needed
BTW, those of you with this topcase in the correct matching blue, did you buy it that way or did you have it painted? I know a few of you had it painted to match, but did ANY of you guys buy it stock in the correct blue?
The colour is Pearl Spencer Blue PB308M
Yeah, I got the color name. Just trying to figure out whether my Honda guy was right. He says Honda-San has never produced/sold the top case in OEM matching blue anywhere in the world. I was under the impression that some of you guys with the blue top case bought it from your dealer that way.
In Canada they sold a matching blue in 07.
I know because when I went to order mine, Dealer had to dig up an 03 or 04 part number to get me one in black, as the 07 part number said it was Blue, I needed black as my 07 is red
However, the OEM top case was discontinued June 1, 2011. I got mine in March of 2011 and dealer had to use his behind the scenes contacts to get it out of the US, because Honda Canada couldn't get them anymore. And he told me, that was only of the last one out there..
So you may not be-able to find one from Honda... Or you may be stuck taking whatever you can get and painting it too match..
Feel like double checking on the availability of the blue topcase next time you're @ your Canadian dealer?
You sure about those hinge pins, Dave? I have the case stripped down, but can't see how the small pins will come out. The plastic hinge is only open on one end so you cannot push them out from the other side (I guess this prevents thieves from doing the same thing and taking the lid off when parked.)
The exposed end of the pin is slightly pointed, so there's nothing to grab.
I'm taking this thing in tomorrow for a painting estimate. Love details on how you got yours off, if you got a sec...
Got the topcase and recently had it painted to match. Total paint job cost me $100 here in SoCal. Many auto body shops that were muuuch closer to me either flat out refused to paint it, gave me BS about needing "special expensive motorcycle paint", or quoted me outrageous $450 prices. So I went to me regular body shop guy who ONLY works on/fixes/paints bikes. He's a little further out, but once again, did a hell of a job, I think, esp. since the lid doesn't come off, and he had to tape off/paint around it.
Luckily, the bike came with the OEM saddlebags along with an extra matching lock, so all 3 pieces use the same key.
The rack is a non-OEM solo rack, bought from a lister here. Apparently I got the last one, but if you like it, I *hear* he's taking orders for the next batch. I like it. I also have the OEM rack for tours with a passenger, but haven't put it on yet.
Enough talk. Here are the fotos.

Would you be willing to share your painters name? I would really like to look at getting my Duc repainted and once I get my '01 ready, have it painted as well. I got a high estimate from someone that works on Ducati's for Newport Ducati, but I would like to see what others would charge.
Cheers
PS we did not use the Colorrite paint. I took him a saddlebag and he scanned it and had the paint custom mixed.
Re: name/address....Yep. PM sent. Let me know when you go and I'll ride up with you if you like.
Nice looking bike wgregt. Just curious, how do you like that wind screen compared to the stock one?
I like it much better. It's higher than the stock one and pushes the air at my eyebrows vs. my chin on the OEM one. The bike also came with a Puig, a GIVI, and a german-made windscreen as well (with the little adjustable wing on the top? M_ _ something brand?) I haven't tried the other two yet though. I'm kinda rotating thru the stuff that came with it to see what I like best.
I have another dark smoke Double Bubble just like the one I have on it now that I'm selling. It is missing one of the hooks and has a small 1" crack. The missing hook doesn't affect it at all, and you cannot see the crack when mounted. Works/looks just fine on the bike. PM me if interested.
