Pilot Power 3's
I do believe that KebRider and Switchblade have them on now...I am waiting to hear the result before deciding on my TXMac tire (Dunlop RS II / Q2 first set for me or PR III / PP III ).

very nice KEB...about how many miles do you expect from the Roadsmart II/Q2 combo compared to what you got from the PR III/PP combo?
My Q2 fronts usually outlive a PP by about 500 miles at least and the RS2 wears very close to a PP2/3 as far as I can tell in the first 1200 miles. They look great right now but I should know in the next two weeks what they have as far as mileage.
You try the S20s?
I did not try the S20's.
My PR III rear/ PP Front had 5200+ when my son totaled the bike and the rear probably had another 1,200 miles in it but the front was due.
My younger/lighter son, on his own 5th gen, has 6,300 on his PR III rear but did not change both tires at the same time.
I am really leaning toward the Roadsmart II/ Q2 combo this time even though they are about $20 more costly than the PR III/ PP combo and even $5 more than a PR III/ PP III front combo.

Per your review, I ran the S20's on a Tally track day a few weeks ago. They performed well. I think I still have enough life in them to use them at T-Mac this year too.
I suspect anyone who tries the S20s will be hard pressed to find anything wrong with them. I plan on heading to Barber this year whenever there is an open M/C trackday that looks interesting and I will likely go with the S20's unless the Power 3's are all that.
The only negative on my current Dunlop set is a front end wobble when riding no-handed between 40 and 60 MPH. My bike is jacked in the rear and I found out it was also dropped in the front. I really don't remember ever dropping the front but I did raise it back up to stock last weekend. I will see if this cures the front end wobble. I checked the balance and it is spot on.
I was planning on raising the front anyway since I need the additional ground clearance but my VFR is a real mountain goat with perfect steering manners on any type of road and any type of corner, hard on the gas or hard on the brakes, so raising the front is not a decision I came to lightly.

interesting, i just set my fork height as I am installing my re-worked suspension on my new to me 98 (Wolf exhaust, ) and I am showing 71 mm from the top of the upper triple to the ring for the circlip on the fork tube. which is exactly 30 mm from the recommended stock set up of 41mm per the FSM.
When I replace the stock shock tomorrow I will see how the rear ride height has changed, I may be able to raise my front up a bit.
Corner if you come across a deal on the PP/PRIII combo or the Q2/Roadsmart please let me know. I'm running Pirelli Diablo Rosso II's on the R1 now with 0 complaints, great feedback, great grip (no idea on mileage yet) and have a set of S20's in trashbags to try next on that bike. The VFR I'm like you and want a grippier front with a sport touring tire on the rear for even mileage. I looked up the Michelin combo today and it'd be $300. I paid $230 for my S20's some time last year and $260 for my Pirelli's.
the best deal I know of on the PRIII/PP combo is like $270 at Jake Wilson right now and the Roadsmart II/ Q2 combo is around $295 from compacc.com
You can get a PRIII/PPIII from Jake Wilson for $287
I like the minimal appearance of the siping on the Pilot Road 2 better than that of the Road 3s, so I'm thinking Road 2 rear and PPIII front. Any feedback on that combo?
works great, maybe a touch less planted in the rain.
I am saving the PP3's for TMac but I have the trusted PR's on right now and set of Pure Power's on the extra set of wheels.
Spooned on a fresh set of pp3's and ran 4 sessions at Miller on them. Great tires :)
Power 3 front went on Sunday. Just the front because I wanted to see if my low speed, no-handed wobble was tire (Q2) related or worn steering head bearings. Cleared right up with the PP3 so blame the Q2 and forgive it at the same time because it is a fantastic sport tire that just happens to wear out quickly.
The PP3 is a sticky tire that felt solid for the 150 mile loop of high quality twisties I did. The Q2 feels different, sharper turn in with more feedback but the PP3 is a power 2ct on steroids. I will throw the PP3 rear on tonight and do a proper test soon though it looks like rain this weekend.

I put PR3's on mine late last year. I've put about a thousand miles or so on them, and love them! I would definitely buy them again.
