Its official, I finally broke into the tens! And to top it off they gave me a trophey since I was the fastest bike out! I thought you guys would be proud, our little VFR800 is no slouch. I spent the whole night whooping up on two modded ninja 600s, one a blue 2011 with an Akrapovic exhaust and the other was a green 2012 with a kn filter and an M4 ehaust.
wow, that's an accomplishment. I never thought it was possible. Low 11's yes, but not 10's.
Good going!
was the bike strapped?
THANKS!!!
Yup strapped all the way down. i was launching pretty hard.
She has more left too. They didn't prep the track tonight, so i was actually spining at the launch on a few of the runs that I gave her a little too much.
Also I still havent dyno tuned the Rapid Bike module yet.
And I plan on dropping some more weight with an f4i fork swap in a few months and no junk food lol.
Hell yeah, bro! Good job. I would say the bike definitely has more in it, especially with a mid 1.8 60 foot. Oughta be able to get that down to a flat 1.7 or better. Have you experimented with lower tire pressure yet? If you're on a street tire, at street pressure, that right there will pick up your launch and 60' quite a bit. Start at about 25psi, and make passes subsequently letting a few psi out after a pass till it feels good and is hooking up. Once you get that dialed in, even on a shitty track, you shouldn't have much of a traction issue. Are you running the inside of the lane?
Also, just curious here, I'm assuming that is a 'pro' tree you're running on?
Yeah I still had my tires at 40 psi, but I did burn out first. They make us run in the cars tracks, so we dont slip on anything that the cars might drip out. Usually they spray glue down, but this was a street cars only, non race cars night, so I guess they figured it wasn't necessary and they'd save a few bucks. Conditions were pretty good though, like 60 degrees all night. Yep were have a pro tree.
I was drag racing between corners yesterday with various bikes in the mountains. I could not keep the front end down on the VFR. Maybe I will strap her down before my next Dragon run. :491:
Really think the Givi box is causing all sorts of unexpected (fun) handling responses.
What do strips normally require of someone riding off the street to have a go at a 1/4 mile? I'd be interested to see what my bike is capable of, but not all that interested in a lot of prep work.
Thinking of dragging a couple guys from work out some weekend for some good-natured ribbing and entertainment.

Surprisingly not a whole lot. $10-$25 and a bike that passes tech inspection. You need to be in full gear also.
I am right around at the threshold of where you need to be wearing full leathers.
Hey Red..nice run. Did you run on high octane or a VP unleaded race fuel...and what gear were you in at the 1/4? ?
I showed up running on fumes, made my first pass at 10.9 and 125.
Then I made my second pass and spun up big time and ran a 14.
I ran out of gas on my way back and filled up with a gallon of 112 leaded.
My next run was a 11.0 at 123. Amazing what 6 pounds will do.
By the end of the night I got back into the tens, as my tank started to empty out.
I am Pretty sure that I am trapping right at the end of fourth maybe the beginning of fifth gear.
Nice job and congrats! 10.9 with a 1/2 second reaction time, might be able to shave a tenth or 2 with a quicker lauch response.
He's racing on a pro tree here, so his reaction times are actually much better as the pro tree basically starts your reaction time at .500 and I believe he was cutting a .553 light? Which is excellent as far as reaction times go.
CandyRed, forget the race gas next time if at all possible., it will actually slow your bike down.

No, you would need the rapid bike harness.
I don't think they make the Rapid Bike Evo for our bikes and the Evo doesn't have ignition control any ways.
I would just try to get a rb2 or rb3 module and harness.
At one point they did have an adapter to plug the Rapid Bike Racing module into a rb1/rb2/rb3 harness, but I can't find it anymore and Rapid Bike Racing modules cost a small fortune.
All I can think of is how great you would do with a REAL drag bike. You have skills! This is about you more than it is about the 800 VFR. Kudos, man.
Thanks Alaskan, that means a lot! I haven't been going to the track regularly do to working on the full exhaust and waiting on the sprocket kit from sidewinder to be made, but I want to start getting serious again. I should be doing a baseline dyno this afternoon, then putting the full exhaust on and doing some tuning next weekend. I have never seen any dynos with the Two Brothers Racing full system, but I did have it on my bike for a day last week before sending it to the ceramic coater and my butt dyno says 10 whp. It came back from the coater yesterday and my fron sprocket should be here any day from sidewinder, so things should start coming together soon. I should probably start cutting weight now and try and get to 160 pounds full geared up by winter. I have dropped a few more pounds off of the bike since that 10.96 second run, losing the center stand, an aluminum plus 3 rear and the full exhaust. I am thinking that mid tens are a definitely possible.
no guys the base line dyno fell through. i have been really short on time lately. hopefully i will get some time to do some tuning soon though. i will let you guys know as soon as it happens.
i have a friend that works at a very popular tuning facility, that we all know of but should go unnamed. he has access to the whole building, dyno etc. we went in for a few pulls on a saturday and some asshat changed the password on the dyno's laptop. he has since got his own computer and i am now waiting for a day when both our schedules coincide.
i dont think the numbers will be too much use to you guys with out a baseline, but i will do a few pulls with and with out the rapid bike and with and with out ignition advance. if there is anyone in the orlando area with a 5th or 6th gen that we could do some back to back runs, that would be super!
i almost pulled the trigger on that r1 front end conversion that popped up on here the other day, but i have my hands full right now so i backed off. that is on my list of things to eventually do though...
