Just wanted to say welcome, and how much I love my new bike/first bike! Its a 2001 Vfr red in color, although the plastics were updated and now the red on the tank and rear seat cowl are a different shade. Altogether it is in gorgeous shape, I bought it off of my step dads friend who just went through everything, adjusted valves, new tires, fork seals, sprockets, everything! Even have the old plastics and tinted wind screen. I am BIG into the tuner/car scene so thats where I get my fast driving out. I just love cruising around on her. Everything is stock besides the K&N air filter and a slip on two brothers high mount exhaust. She has almost 28k miles on her and runs like she is brand new.
I ordered up a new shorty slip on (heard delkevic slip ons are pretty good for the price) and they look unique so I figured what the heck, also ordered a tank protector. As for future mods I can't really say, I'd like to look into more flush mounted possibly led directionals, as well as a fender eliminator kit. Then its just little things, new matching paint, Powdercoated wheels to match all the silver aluminum.
I am very new to working on bikes so please bare with me!!! As I will have plenty of questions! Pics are soon to come.
Congrats on your VFR, Nate, and welcome to VFRD!
This is a terrific and very friendly forum. Answers to most of your questions are already here, but if you can't find what you're looking for, just ask.
Enjoy your VFR and please be careful! VFRs are not the best first bikes, but you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and are learning slowly and safely. Keep the shiny side up!
Welcome aboard Nate. Just nabbed me an '01 myself last month. She's getting a little refresh, full fluid flush/fill, new brake pads, going to do a suspension update later this summer. Mine is actually bone stock with the exception of a K&N air filter but I'm looking at the Dekelvic as well, but to be honest, I would stick with the 2Bros you have. Any pics of your new ride?
Thanks guys, I'm starting to get the feeling that this is a better forum than most I am currently on! Pics are soon to come, and as for the 2bros I like it as well however it is just to quite, I'm not trying to be totally obnoxious but I do want to be heard, mainly for safety reasonstoo! And yes this bike is a total beast. I respect it for that reason. I fit so comfortably on it too 6'4" 190lbs of comfort! Haha. I am happy to almost be like a little family, not many people have even heard of vfrs these days! Everyone is missing out on a spectacular bike.
