That's pretty damn cool. I bet it's a pain to get to the second floor seating though.

Wieringerwaard, a polder laid dry in 1610
The watertower was built in 1927-28 to house a million litres of water.
51.3meters high, it rests on 519 18-meter piles rammed into the soil. No granite bedrock here :-)
It was retired from service in 1996 when modern pumping techniques took over.
The bar/lunchroom is open only from spring to autumn since heating the place will be impossible/cost a fortune.

That's a lot cooler than the ones where I grew up. Usually they were steel, and looked sort of like a golf ball teed up.
Kind of boring, except the one painted like a golf ball, and the smiley face one.

Leon, if you are thinking about a career change and want to start you own lunchroom, I think the water tower in Doorn is still up for sale :biggrin:
