So I got bored waiting for Delkevic to ship hi-level link pipe to the UK & was not overly keen on it's angles. I have NOT been able to find one for a reasonable price, so decided to see if I could DiY it :)
First up, I pulled the low level exhaust & played with the link pipe & silencer to see what I could do. Low & behold, it looked like a short 45 degree bend was all that was required to get the silencer where I wanted it & link the header to the existing link pipe redeployed !
So went to a local car custom exhaust centre & had them make me a 45degree bend pipe, the distance between the straights on the inside of the bend was 67mm for my setup.
I used the old stainless lower link clamp to clamp the new bend to the existing link pipe & used a new one to connect the 45 bend to the headers. Then I used a spare piece of 2mm steel strip to make a hanger that went between the right passenger foot peg front bolt & the subframe, plus another 2mm spring washer & a stainless washer, then used 2 x 2mm spring washers & a stainless washer on the rear bolt to even them up & to create an additional 5mm of space so the silencer could fit where I wanted it. I replaced the right passenger footpeg bolts with 5mm longer stainless cap head bolts that I had in my SS bolt bucket.
The hanger connects to the end of the link pipe & the silencer via the silencers band clamp, I used an extra nut to fill the space & a nylock nut on the end to make sure it does not vibrate off. The can is secured by a bracket added to the rear subframe, this is just a steady & I riveted a mating bracket to the can & they connect by a 5mm SS bolt as per the pic. I had to trim some of the inner black plastic under tray to alloy the hanger to get the right angle. But it all bolts up solid :)
I was going to use the old centre stand bump stop to mount a heat shield for my boot, which is why it appears in some of the pics, but decided to ditch that & used a piece of alloy U section & a thins stainless band to clamp the temporary heat shield in place.
So here's a set of pics showing how it turned out.
