Givi V35 Sidecases - Anyone With Pics?

Just curious if anyone has a set of Givi V35's that they're using on their 6th gen?  I was just reading that they're supposed to be contoured to match the OEM profile for some bikes better, but wondering if anyone has pics they could share?

I'd also be interested if anyone has experience with both the V35's and the OEM's and might be willing to compare/contrast them for the unenlightened.

The only complaint that I have with these bags are the "strings" that are supposed to hold them partly open are secured by tiny screws which quickly strip out of the holes.  Not really a big deal.

If you are trying to install the brackets with a stock fender following Givi's instructions you will have a problem.  I posted up in luggage about the modified install procedure a few years ago (as others have as well).

Beyond that, decent luggage.

No experience with the OEMs, but I'm happy with the Givi's.  They mount to my Strom as well, and have been up the Dalton and over the Trans Labrador with no issues, except the support string that Olive mentioned.  Also as she said, the instructions are wrong for the cross link at the rear.  Everything will fit, though.

How wide is the bike with the cases fitted? :unsure:

oh lord I laughed pretty good.  she isn't the norm, because we usually fit everything in a backpack.  Maybe if I get side bags she might be like that though! :unsure:

if you get the side cases get the bag liners that fit in them.  that way she (you both actually) can practice packing so that you get what you need for the trip and it is much easier to open the case, grab the soft bag and head into a hotel or home than to unlock the luggage and bang it around.

I was thinking about that... carrying those hard cases sounds like a PITA!!!!

I picked up some packing cubes that I use to organize the side bags. A lot cheaper than the bag liners. They have handles and aren't that awkward to carry - its not a big deal. the big Givi top case is a lot more awkward.

I understand where your pillion question comes from - remember that many on the forum mount the top case using Ken's Solo Rack that puts the weight directly over the rear seat. If I remove that rack I have full access to the pillion seat. the side luggage is mounted far enough back to leave plenty of room for a passenger to sit on the back with feet comfortably on the pegs.
To clarify - the side hard bags aren't that awkward to carry - and are quite light when empty. Like any luggage final weight depends on what to put inside. They are easy to unclip and pull off of the bike, and have a flat bottom to easily sit on the ground.

If unloading the bike completely I carry one in each hand even when full.

Had the same on mine.  

I sold the bike and kept the bags...   but now I'm gonna use some Beetle bags on the 5th gen, so I've needed to advertise the bags and mounting for sale...

Yes, and the quick release givi mounting kit. 

The white is not a great quality respray over the silver my bike was before.   You can actually buy the plastic insert with multiple colors brand new from givi pretty cheap.
