I've had the 6th gen for two years after buying it brand new as a leftover (2008). Longest trip so far was 600 miles in two days. I've always wanted to ride across the country, and my wife and I figured riding on the motorcycle together is something we should get out of our systems before we have kids!
So at the end of June I set out by myself from Boston and rode out to Billings, Montana. Went through NY, saw Niagara Falls, visited a friend in Chicago, and took the northern route through Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. My wife flew out to Montana and where I picked her up and we joined with our two friends, another couple, who similarly rode out/flew from California. They were on a KTM 950R and Jamie (the guy) did a 1060 mile day on it getting from the Bay Area to Billings!
From there we rode ~3000 miles and zigzagged our way back to the west coast. On the way to there we camped in Yellowstone Park for several days, my wife and I rock climbed a 700 foot, 6 pitch trad climb in the Grand Teton National Park, we swam in a few volcanic hot springs, visited Craters of the Moon volcanic park in Idaho, Crater Lake in Oregon, and took the 101 down to San Jose. From there I set off by myself and rode back to Boston in 5 days. I was going to make it back in 4 days, doing a 1000 mile day from Chicago to Boston, but 200 miles short at 11:30 PM I got a phone call from three of my track buddies. They were heading to check out the New York Safety Track (just opened) and why dont I come stay with them at the hotel. It was only 30 miles south of where I was so what the hell. Next day I went to the track with them at 6am, turns out they had space in intermediate, the organizer had a spare one piece suit that fit me (for free!) and there was no way I wasn't doing a track day at that point! Stats from the trip: 20 days, 19 states and 8,257 miles. Longest day of travel was 15 hours and 854 miles. Highest elevation we rode to was 10,947 feet (beartooth pass), where there was still snow in July!

Quite a trip too, and a great idea to take a detour to the racetrack !!
Terc, great to see that you found the vid!! It was great to bump into you in Indiana, you were the only other 6th gen I saw the whole trip, and needless to say I was excited when I pulled up right next to you!
2thdr, I didn't take the one piece leather suit with me. I just had my leather jacket and by BMW summer pants. I got to the track and was going to do the track day in that two piece outfit, but the organizers didn't dig it, so they had me try on their one piece suits. Usually they rent them but I think the guy liked my story so he let me wear it at no charge!!
