I am beyond pissed. It's the left one.
Any one have any leads on getting a replacement.
I'm also leaving on a 1000 mile trip next Friday.
How in the hell did it come off?? When mine are on they are latched pretty good.
Seen this several times on 5th and 6th gens... sorry to hear that!!
At least on my 6th gen it is posible to lock and remove the key with the grab handle slightly up from it's fully closed position... don't know about the 7th gen's mechanisms...
If you need another one, try contacting DavidSilverSpares in the UK. If anyone can help, I'm sure they can.
problem is a big decideding factor for buying the bike was a huge trip i have comming up this next weekend.
called arounfg looking for a new bag and of course you have to buy the whole set... for 1400 plus tax and shipping.
as much as i like the look of the honda bags they are pretty useless, and for 1400 i could buy givi racks, a used set of bags from a buddy of mine, and have enough left over to buy a full set of hard cases for my g/f's FZ6 and have money loeft over to have it all installed.
ugh.
Would insurance cover the replacement?
I think the OP was somewhat of a call-out for a loaner from someone.....
I've seen greater acts of compassion on this forum already. I've already done the same for fellow riders, with the caveat, you break it, you bought it.
Good luck finding something for your trip.
Brian
I can relate to your extreme frustration. I had one of my side cases fall off the shelf that I store them on, when not on the bike. It was a totally innocent accident, but the results were not good. The case landed on the attachment "lever" that the case hooks onto the bike itself. It completely broke out a chunk of the plastic, and the entire lever itself.
Replacement for the plastic part of the case (the painted part was undamaged) was around $500.00. While miffed beyond measure, I used a strong plastic bonding compound to glue it back into place. It worked well enough to allow me to use the case, aleit for very light loads. I'm worried about stressing it too much, for obvious reasons.
Good luck in your search for the replacement.
are you sure you have to buy the set of two?
someone knocked my Guzzi 1200 Sport over while it was wearing it's Norge bags.....I was able to replace one bag easily, from Guzzi (made by Givi)
Not sure about the stock cases but I've spent a couple months hunting for a left side V35 and hounding Givi to let me buy just one. No dice.
On a somewhat hijack-y note, does anyone here do extra to tether their bags to the bike?

I just give them a good check to make sure they're not loose and are on secure before I take off.
Not much you can do to tether them to the bike that will keep them from bailing if they aren't mounted correctly.
