I recently had a dead battery and when troubleshooting found the 30amp circuit was hot, way hot. So it was time for some electrical love. While I had it apart for VFRness install and cleaning of every connection I could find I installed a ADV voltmeter. Made a aluminum bracket out of 1.25 flat stock bent at an 20 deg angle. Attached the bracket to meter with black RTV and same to the inside of dash. Not perfect location but ended up pretty clean and no holes drilled. It works!  That is the key.  I like my panel flush mount but yours does the job just fine.
