Owned both, 6th gen Sargent & 5th gen Corbin. Both were equally comfortable butt found the sliding about on the Corbin a little unsettling - not that it was an issue, my head just thought it might be.

Two of the bikes I have owned, my shadow 1100 and my current VFR both were/are equipped with Corbin seats. I have sat on a sergeant equipped bike as well. I will always buy Corbin saddles. They are extremely high quality and very comfortable. Also, I like the leather surface. Worth every penny IMHO.
I got a Sargent and found it to be a lot more comfortable than stock; but still not enough for all day in the saddle. After about 3 hrs I started to get pins n needles down my leg.
So I bought an Airhawk seat cushion (medium cruiser); what a difference! My longest day has been 600kms over 8 hrs - no problem whatsoever. It felt like I could have done another 4 hrs easy.
You'll read mixed reviews about Airhawks; the trick is not to overfill them with air. They take surprisingly little air to achieve maximum effectiveness. I will never ride more than a couple of hours without one again.

I've got 6 bikes in the garage that I ride regularly. I have Corbin's on all of them, and for some bikes I have the 2 person Corbin and a solo Corbin as well. Combined I bet I have well over 500,000 miles on Corbin seats. When buying another bike, I often have the Corbin before I even get the bike home. I've had many 1000+ mile days on many of them nonstop, only standing up at the pump, without a single comfort problem or issue.
When I bought my 6th gen recently, it came with a Sargent seat on it. I already had a Corbin for it as well. This was my first time ever even sitting on a Sargent.
And I love it. It fits on the bike better, it's a ton lighter, and the fit and finish is much better. Corbin's customer service is atrocious. Astoundingly inept, needing multiple calls over and over, missing shipments, etc. Believe me when I say that you may be totally in love with your Corbin, but one call to customer service with them and you will regret every dollar you ever spent with them. And I've been a customer with them for over 25 years, both over the phone, and many times in person with their "ride in and get it done in front of your very eyes and ride home with it" service. Every time I have to call them because they failed yet again to follow up on my emails I get off the phone saying "never again!"

Q-dawg, great write-up! Not sure how to vote on this one. Had the sargent on my 5th gen, but went with corbin for my sixth. Prefer leather, (breathing) and also the backrest is important to me. As others have stated, the things are so heavy they can be used as anchors. My experience with Sargent ordering was clean and green. Corbin, a bit of a cluster. I have found one truth worth repeating on the Corbin, they take a long time to break in. 10k or longer long. With the Sargent it was great right from day one. The rear cowl does not fit well on the corbin imho.
