Just installed and been out to try my new Nitron sports shock, all i can say is LOVELY. The rear wheel feels to follow the road like on a magic carpet, bump control is nicely damped, its just nice !!!! just need them to do front forks now :-)
I bought the shock second hand and had it back to Nitron for re-springing.

They are a very popular alternative to Ohlins over here, cheaper to buy and you can get them refurnished when they get old enough.
A Nitron will probably be the next major purchase for my Vtec as it's done 36k on the OEM shock and we have a tour down to the Dolomites planned for this summer.
Wonder if they need a U.S. distributor ??

Nice looking unit. Price seems to be fairly close to Ohlins or Penske Double.
The Nitron website only lists them for the 2010 - 2011 model though so I assume there's a difference on the newer models?

It might be worth giving Nitron a ring and asking them.
I bet they are the same, maybe a different Honda shock as they might have cured the past problems with them but the mounts etc will be the same !!
Does anyone else have a Nitron shock fitted to their VFR1200? The OP in this thread said he bought his 2nd hand so I am not sure if its the correct spec for the bike of just one that Nitron was able to fit. My main question is, does the remote prelaod adjuster mount to the OEM preload adjuster mount? Any pics of the install? Thanks
I have a new one fitted to my VFR1200. Absolutely brilliant. The preload adjuster does fit to the OEM preload adjuster mount. What I am looking into is shift it to where the servo motor currently resides once I get the Guhl ECU mod.

Thanks for the response. In the first picture in this topic the hose coming off the shock looks almost kinked as it comes off the shock. Maybe its just the way the picture appears but, does your also take a tight bend like that?
I am in the process of going down this road based on quality and the price is great.

Hi DH I noticed your location, I'm in Aus and was thinking of the Guhl ECU mod. Just concerned with the post thing. Do you have a tune in mind to load ?? I think our fuel ratings would be similar. I use 95 octane here and the off on throttle at small openings is terrible. My other thought is Bazza ZFI which I can fiddle with the map.

Ah, so yes, it is quite twisted so I installed the shock 180 degrees and had the cable exiting the other side, then there was a far more gentle radius for the adjuster.
I am in the process of going down this road based on quality and the price is great.

I am concerned with the post thing as well, but as long as it is tracked then we should be okay.. I have not thought about the tune yet, I think I will seek his guidance. We have 96 here and 98 in a few places, all non methanol. Off/on is a bit 'lurchy' as well and could really be improved upon. I thought about the Bazzaz, but figure that a good base map is better to start with. It will be nice when it is as nice at small throttle openings as my carb 2000 R1..

Well timed post, I'm doing the suspension here very soon. I know they just had a group buy, but if we can put together enough people maybe they would consider doing one for us. I will contact their US distributor if a few people are interested.
Had a new one fitted to my 6th Gen yesterday and it's definitely on my radar for my 7th Gen once I've actually put some miles on it.
Another question for anyone with a Nitron shock. They offer 3 versions of their shock with about a $300 spread ($748-$1039) between their least expensive "sport" shock and their most expensive "race" shock with the "track" shock being in between. They can all be had with a remote preload adjuster. I am very much tempted to by the "sport" shock which has a combined rebound/compression adjustment rather the independent adjustments of the more expensive shock. This least expensive shock still seems like it would be a big improvement over the stock.
For people with this shock, which version of shock did you buy? If you bought one with the remote reservoir in addition to the remote preload adjuster, where did you mount the reservoir?

Here is the Nitron installed on my 1200, note the adjuster cable is not kinked. I just got the standard model with the remote preload adjuster. I am very happy with it and it is far more compliant that the OEM one.
I have Ohlins TTX shock and forks on my GSXR1000 racebike, Ohlins forks and shock on my R1 roadbike, Ohlins on my NSR250 and the CBR929 shock in my 5th gen. Compared to Ohlins, I don't find the Nitron to be lacking at all and the build quality looks to be as good as Ohlins.

Speaking about the one on my 5th, it's not much different from stock - if you don't have difficulty operating the stock adjuster, the nitron will be fine. I opted to skip the preload also, no pillion and I never pack that much luggage.
Does anyone know if I would have any problems buying the nitron R1 shock without the remote preload(like limited space using the C-spanner)? I feel spending another $275 just to get remote preload is kinda a waste of money that be used on something else like heavier fork springs or something

Not possible to use spring preload spanners without removing the shock. Removing the shock however requires dropping the faring and the tank - which means a lot of work.
