Oh yes boys and girls, it's time to mobilize the troops. Pack your sleeping bags or grab your hotel money. The first of last year's overnighters was an epic weekend run deep in NorCal: 36, 3, 299, 101, 1. This year will be no different.

Exact dates are to be determined, but April 5-6 or 12-13 are the target. Lemme know what you like.

If you need some motivation:

[video: https://youtube.com/embed/O023-JGsF_M?html5=1&fs=1]

We have options. An identical run of last year's route:
Day 1: http://goo.gl/maps/YFrez
Day 2: http://goo.gl/maps/kB3In

As is my usual plan, might as well take an extra day:
Day 1: http://goo.gl/maps/YFrez
Day 2: http://goo.gl/maps/XSMC4
Day 3: http://goo.gl/maps/kB3In

You have plenty of time to plan, buy new bikes, take days off, and make route suggestions. Don't say I didn't warn you. Excuses will be entertained, but quickly disregarded.

Also, despite this being a VFR forum, it's pretty much run-what-you-brung. We'll have at least a Ducati and a Super Tenere along, so bring what you got. No judgment here, unless you're a lousy rider, then you'll be banished forever. The pace is, um, spirited.

More motivation:

Poison oak not included...but Coors Original is.

Hmm...I actually may consider this one, even though I'm a So Cal boy! Our Kings Canyon, Sequoia run was fun, although there was no fungus among us, it was still a good time!
#3

ahh seeing pictures of my VFR makes me really miss it sometimes.

And I definitely might have to join you for that 3rd day Brian. Always wanted to go up a little farther every time I'm up there but never have the time. Although I have mondays off right now, I'm not sure I will after march.

#4

No camping... I'm in. As long as I don't have to work :cheerleader:

#5

Cross border camping sounds cool...the sooner and further away from April 15 the better.

#6

hopefully we have some rain by then, so the hills won't be so brown and there'll be some water in the  lakes and river's along the route.

#7

Thanks  for  sharing ...

So the usual suspects are out in force...might as well start the list:

BrianF - 3 day
TJ - 3 day (hotel)
TC
crazybro (hotel)
ecn
Duc2?
Bayarearider? (hotel)
dadofseven?

Duc you could easily cruise up the coast in one day and then meet us at the start point. Might even be able to convince some other SoCal cats to join the party. By the way, that "fungus" comment made me laugh my ass off. We were just talking about that today. Speaking of today, an impromptu ride was held:

Told you we don't care what you ride. Not a VFR in sight. By the way, you've never experienced anything like a Diavel. Absolutely terrifying. Like fungus.

In a straight line, you've never seen or heard anything like it. It sounds and accelerates like a funny car. It is BRUTAL.

In turns...not so much. Will be fun to have some roll-on drag races with the 7th gen. Not sure it will be dramatically faster, but it feels about 100 times as much.

As a citizen from Whoville would say,  "We Are Here!"

Ive just been clicking off a few Buck50's locally Santa Cruz Mtns and beyond South.
With this "Artic Vortex" ie, drought. Big Sur is happening NOW!

That and playing around with a new Nikon I picked up over the holidaze.

I will need to have my seals done on my forks before a long run but looking forward to it. 800 count sheets please..

Never mind, it was Neo..

Another score on style points!   but Mother of Mercy!

Looks like fun....start point is 300 miles from me.....
#15

dadofseven maybe get in contact with FHR (he's in Reno), might be able to convince him to come out for this -- coolest dude you'll ever meet.  Always good to have a travel partner and someone to split the cost of a hotel with. We'll assume you guys' participation is weather dependent though. Keep us posted.

Greg lives!

Must have sound clip with this sort of pic (isn't there some sort of site rule?).
You think we could set up something like the first 30 seconds of
[video: http://player.vimeo.com/video/46856767]
for your next epic?

TJ lets find a nice quiet road and do this. I can't imagine what it must sound like standing on the side of the road.

For this test I'll be putting it in sport mode with no holds bared.
How fast are your ready to go? 150? 170?+

In all honesty Brian, you've go to admit that for a bike of that type and not having that much time on it, it handles the turns better than you'd think.
So anyway I really need to start looking at Vfrd more often. Count me in on the trip,2 day 3 day I don't care. Hell, with my new found freedom I could do multi week trips if you were so inclined. Here's the rub. I don't think that my ass could handle that trip on the Duc.
If you and Triscuit wanna help out and swap every now and then I'd say sure thing. If not, I'm taking the Tiger. That bike is quick in the turns and fun as hell.
Camping.......fuck no! Not this time or ever. Done!
Three day trip, is there a hotel near by?
By the way, I've ordered a DB killer for the Diavel. Shorter rides are cool without it, but on longer rides that suckers going in.
If ya want to do some drive by sound clips we could pull the slip on muffler off the bike.
Gonna sound baaaad asssss!

I will, the following week is the Track day I posted a bit earlier .....sounds like a great trip.....April is still pretty dicey in Reno....I-80 West.

Yeah, I'll agree. It's really not a bad handler, but it's a handful. The more I rode it the better I liked it. In terms of the race, let's say...125. I don't even know if my speed limiter is 150 high. Maybe it will be gone altogether with the re-flash.

I'd be down to ride the Diavel some on this ride, but whatever. Might suck because of the bad mpg too. Triscuit what do you think?

And yeah, there will be hotels (http://goo.gl/maps/XwkNk). As I have the 3-day right now, day 2 is a loop from Willow Creek into Oregon and back. Wouldn't even have to check out of the hotel. Then again, I may change that route for no apparent reason. Wouldn't be the first time.

dadofseven sounds good, we'll keep you on the list but we'll think of you as a game-time decision.

Don't worry fun-police, we won't do it on this ride. At least not intentionally.

BTW what kind of camera did you get? I know you said Nikon but SLR, ILC etc? I think Triscuit has a Nikon too, might be able to hook you up with some tips/tricks. Always need more people in the "I took good pictures and posted them" camp vs. "I looked at the good pictures you posted" group. Having occupied the latter for most of my life, I must speak the truth.

GO HAWKS.

Any tips appreciated!

I wont be able to do the 3 day trip that time of year. If we did a 3 dayer the 3rd week of march, I could do that since its my spring break. But after that I have school Mon-Fri.  Definitely down for 2 days though.

I'm down to ride the Diavel a bit as well. But I'll probably let someone else take it of we hit the real twisty stuff. I wasnt really able to get used to it, but maybe I just need a bit more time in the saddle.

Well that's lame. I'd be down for an earlier season ride, but I have no idea what the timetable is on my ECU. Honestly, at this point I'm just hoping I get it back in time for this ride.

If it's just me and TJ doing the 3 day, then screw the Diavel. Don't really wanna split time 50/50 on it.

Bringing the tiger. Gas is going to be an issue with the duc.
#31

Nice to see a twin... and i thought that Brian and myself were the only 7th gens around

Need to get St. Stephen in on this next Tahoe ride. Me, you, him, and dadofseven could create the largest gathering of 7th gens ever. With all that weight, they might even have a gravitational pull.

#32
me + the great blue whale = about 850 pounds of man candy....thats alot! Just sayin....
#33

Brian,

Cool, just had a good conversation with Don... He made me a custom map... :goofy:

#34

Thanks gentlemen…on Monday drove, on four wheels, the Tomales-->PCH-->Reyes Station--Petaluma-->Tomales triangle, still wiping the drool from my chin, and looking forward to the two-wheeled version. Need an RV removal device, however.

Yes, my ride is a 2010 gen 7, but my trade-in was an '02…and my trade in for that was a VF700 tariff bike. V4's all...

Noel

Oh yeah, well, I had mine first     :owned:

Did you ride yet??

I'll bring you all the videos on a thumb drive when we're out there for the next ride. That's probably the easiest way.

May I have a copy please?
What size thumb drive would you need? (pm me where to send).
