I recently found my waterpump leaking. As it on a 2000 MY, I decided to replace the pump and most of the cooling system hoses. Removed both radiators and the pump, replaced pump and hose and reinstalled radiators.
Completed bleeding procedure, but engine runs up to 220F and the fan doesn't activate. Coolant is at the top of the filler neck.
Checked and I have Batt power to the fan switch and if I ground the wire the fan runs fine.
Replaced the fan switch last night and it still won't turn on.
Any idea on the next step?
Thanks, Vic
I had the same issue when I first bought my VFR and it turned out the fan itself had been unplugged. You probably have already checked that though...
take the wire from going to the fan swtich and ground it... Fan should come on. If it does not - you have not connected the power.
if it does - recheck the swtich
Yes, the fan runs when I ground the feed wire.
Switch is new yesterday.
I noticed my gen 6 turn on the cooling fan at 225F.You might want to leave your bike running a little bit longer before you conclude?

try another switch...also what is the rating / marking on the swtich ?
Thanks AlanOon, I'll give that a try tonight. Couldn't remember for sure when it used to come on.
Not sure what changed, maybe there was an air bubble in the system.
Started it up and the fan came on at 211F and back off at 195F
Thanks for the help guys.
Glad all worked out. Maybe the switch wire was loose or something.
Good luck
