When I purchased my 5th gen from the previous owner, he had amassed aftermarket parts that he had not put on the bike. This included a Corbin seat, Staintune exhaust, Power Commander 2, Helibars, 2nd generation Honda OEM R/R (new), stator gasket, and a plethora of new OEM screws and plastic tab bits for $500. A fair price for everything included, I'd say.
I really don't mind the stock seat, and am almost preferring it over the Corbin at this stage, but I really was unsure if I'd put on the exhaust. A few YouTube videos later I was forced to try it out, and in the words of George Takei.. Oh My.
I'm not one for aftermarket exhausts, but this thing puts a lot of muscle cars to shame. The note is deep, yet crisp, and the demonic growl upon acceleration widens your smile more than it should.

My low mileage find is now sitting at just over 3900 miles. I'm hoping to see it at 4,300 or more by the end of the weekend!
I have a 2 Bros CF exhaust waiting to be put on but it's a low mount. As soon as I find time to get a new hi-mount mid-pipe made I'll be putting that on! That, the cat-less headers and the PCV are the last of the mods I have planned for my 5 Gen...Oh I say that now! :biggrin:
Sweet. I have a 2Bros on my 5th gen. Every VFR should have an aftermarket exhaust - the sound is pure magic. Even non-bike people turn heads and comment on how cool it sounds. Youtube videos don't do it justice - you have to hear it in person to appreciate it. Enjoy!
IMO Staintunes don't sound as good as a carbon pipe from the roadside as the VFR goes by - they have a bit of a tinny note whereas the CF pipes sound more mellow - but from the saddle, nothing sounds as good as a Staintune.
The only reason my current 5G doesn't have a 'tune high mount is because of the Wolf undertail system.
For exhaust that are still available to purchase new nothing compares to a Staintune from the quality of construction to the sound from the saddle hands down the pipe from Down Under is hard to beat.
Tanner your bike looks amazing and I now know it sounds just as good.
It's amazing how much the material an exhaust is made of contributes to the sound. viffergyrl's Scorpion aluminum pipe sounds much mellower than my carbon Two Brothers despite being the same dimensions.
Staintunes sound good on pretty much anything, but they are best on a Ducati.
Ive had 3 5th gen Vfr"s and all have had a high rise staintune. Im biased being aussie and staintune being aussie made but the quality is awesome and they sound deep and just right on anything but especially the vfr. mines 13 years old now and still looks like new.
I bought a Remus can years ago and never got around to fitting it. Might slip it on this year though, I've always hated the exhaust note from the factory exhaust.
So,..... I guess I will never spell it "enutniatS" ever again!.......
I knew I was right when I got my high right back in 1996 for my 4th Gen. But was certainly surprised when I encountered so many haters of the pipe back in the "Big" VFR site when I got it ( mostly Micron owners and a forum member named "Andrew".....). Well I'm sure their pipes from back then are nowhere near as in great condition as my "pipe for life"!
The only exhaust I can find anymore that is still in production is the Two Brothers. I am likely going to pick up a Two Brothers Black Series aluminum canister, as I prefer the black over the gold ring on the standard systems.
As for the high mount, I am torn. I like the look, but then I don't like that it changes an original design element. Are there any other high mount exhausts still in production?
