I'm fine for every weekend in June, except the 14th/15th. For whatever that's worth.

I just made this one early because of dadofseven's schedule. I'm up for whatever.

Only thing I'm a bit worried about is a lunch spot. We're heading out into the middle of nowhere for the first half of the ride.

Brown bag maybe? Or wait 'til Tahoe/Reno and one of you locals can pick a good [BBQ] spot?

#3

I'm in. Brian, if you decide to over night this one I am up for that. I'll probably be doing that myself anyways if you cant though.

offer stands to overnight at my place if you choose the 31st, i will have to bow out of the ride if its any later than that weekend, duty calls, but my lawn is green, and the nights are still cool in Reno, im easy to get to, barely a mile off the freeway...
there is a BBQ place in Virginai City that is awesome...pack some snacks for the trip through tahoe, then stop for a late lunch, early dinner in VC, then overnight at my place, or farther up Mt Rose Highway, Truckee area/...

Based on initial interest, I've changed this to the 31st. Hopefully that works for everyone.

In terms of the second day and overnighting, probably a route along these lines for day 2:

http://goo.gl/maps/zM8Dt

dadofseven I think we would probably keep going past Truckee on day 1...if we start at 10 I'd imagine we're done on the route by 6:00. Will likely play that by ear. Either way, appreciate the offer to snooze on your lawn.

I'm good with brown bagging and eating up at Big Hill. That's a perfect place to do it. Then grab some late afternoon BBQ.

I owe her big time for all the motorcycle rides I've had without the hint of a complaint from her.

Good lord if there's a price on that I need to buy my wife a Bugatti.

Looks good....I'm in day 1 for sure!

Im in for both days

I was excited about day 1 and now you post day 2 map.  you guys really know how to have fun.  That is some serious twisties. Bucks lake road from quincy to Oroville is one of the best.   Might have to join you for some on day 2.

Two good lunch options for excellent BBQ, Reds 395 Grill in Carson City and Virginia City Jerky Company, you guessed it in VC.  Both highly recommended

One local mc road I recommend is on the way to VC, about half way up 341 on the way to VC there is a parallel road (truck route) about the same distance but much more fun.

"Good lord if there's a price on that I need to buy my wife a Bugatti."

Just continue to let her know you are aware and appreciate it. You won't need the Bugatti.

The 341 truck route of which richmam00 speaks is where we went, Brian

UPDATE: Moving this to the 31st of May. Feel free to overnight with tc339, ecn and me, we'll be heading north from Tahoe.

Since the masses are pining for a single day ride, I shall oblige. Not that I feel like being the ringmaster for another gathering...but hey, somebody's gotta do it. Let's get more than 4 people this time.

As discussed in the Shasta thread, I think a Tahoe ride is perfect for early in the season. Something like this:

http://goo.gl/maps/TmBKw

I'm thinking, perhaps, a 10am meeting in Auburn, or 9am if you really hate yourself.

Auburn is a perfect meeting point, as it's about 150 miles from the furthest outliers (sorry JeffyJeff and ecn). It's also right on the doorstep of one of my very favorite roads: Wentworth Springs (and Mosquito Ridge for that matter). You'll just have to trust me if you've never been on it. It's that good.

As always, I'm open to different dates or different routes...whatever works for the collective. I figure it'll be about 450-500 miles for a lot of us. Also gives people options if they'd like to make it an overnighter (I will).

What you're getting into:

I'm up for a ride. 9 AM in Auburn sounds good to me. Although Saturday, May 31 would be my preference...I'm flexible. Looking forward to another day with you guys.

If you overnight in Truckee you can just stay at my house, I have plenty of grass out front for tents, and the Virginia City cutoff is about 5 miles away....then you can jump back on Mt Rose Highway....it's 10 minutes from my front door.....
Prefer 31st....Church on the 1st....I can meet somewhere on the route to Tahoe, or even the start point....FHR will probably be on it, and we picked up a new member a couple weeks ago with a 6th Gen, I will text him as well
#16
Ooh yah! I've been waiting to do Brian's Wentwiort Springs route. So I'm in unless the date conflicts with the little kayak ride and lunch from Sand Harbor to the Whittell Thunderbird Lodge which I have promised my Sweetie. I owe her big time for all the motorcycle rides I've had without the hint of a complaint from her.

I'm in

Count me in!  Great looking route and have been wanting to meet some VFR riders.   I would be coming over from Reno so my vote would be a start of 9:30 at the earliest, let things warm up a bit.   Either Sat or Sun is good.   Wife rides a triumph sprint so may join us as well.

#20

Fer Christ sake....Boston and Graduation ceremony that weekend!!

The 341 truck route of which richmam00 speaks is where we went, Brian

Got it. Now that you mention that I remember. Regardless, once we get over Wentworth/Icehouse, I'm following someone who knows where they're going. Whichever BBQ joint they happen to pull into, I'll follow suit. Pretty easy.
#23

I'll be there 10am...anybody want company riding up 680 to 80?

#24

Are you doing mosquito ridge than over to wentworth by uncle tom's than icehouse to 50.  silver fork cafe in kyburz makes a good burger. Anyway I'm in for @ least part of day 1 ride can meet up in georgetown or foresthill  depending on your final route choice.

#25

I'm still planning on the ride.  Something we may want to consider is a short out and back to Loon Lake, turn off from Wentworth springs.  Haven't been there but Butler maps shows it as a "gold".  Might be a good rest stop and photo op.

Where are we meeting?   There is a Starbucks next to the Chevron in Forest Hill.

#26

Loon lake is awesome , road to it is a little bumpy w/ tar snakes but worth it, also you may want to turn west on 50 @ bottom of Icehouse Rd. and take Sly Park to Mormon Emigrant Trail(Iron Mtn.Rd to locals) to 88 and over carson pass thru hope valley then turn onto Foothill @ woodfords and continue onto your posted route.  If you add that section The Knot Hole @ Sly Park or Kirkwood Inn makes great breakfast/ burgers etc. and taking this route would keep you out of So. Lake on Memorial Day (it'll be a zoo @ the Lake)

#27

Yeah, we're still a go. Sorry for disappearing on these threads, I've been absolutely swamped at work.

I'm in.

Anybody mind if I invite a Ducati rider along?

Ed,  I'll PM you.  Maybe we can meet up somewhere along I-680.

Later,   Jeff J.

Not to speak for the group, but as long as they have enough gas to get from place to place go for it

Did I see an Aprilla...? Who Dat? :goofy:

A friend of a friend..  My Ducati buddy rode his ZX14 instead of one of his Ducatis.  He asked his friend along on the Aprilia, but they split off with group B, and took off before we arrived to meet them at Loon Lake.  My friend says they had a good time.  Who knows, maybe the Aprilia or the ZX14 could have given Brian a run for his money at French Meadows Dam!

On second thought, maybe it is best the way things turned out.  After all, there can be only one land speed record holder at French Meadows dam.  No sense pushing our luck.
