A friend of mine is going to look at a 1986 vfr750f this weekend and asked me to tag along to help her deduce if it's worth the buy. It has 29k miles and non-OEM paint. I have yet to see it in person but are there certain areas i should really look at/listen too? Oh, and did i mention that so long as a provide cheap labor while she owns it, the bike will eventually be given to me when she wants something "prettier"  :491:

Thanks in advanced

P.S. the ad was removed so i have no access to pictures of the bike, but plastics didn't seems too trashed from what i saw

It's been many years since I last owned one of these. If it still has standard pipes I'd look for corrosion near the muffler joint. The gear drives seem noisy on these models at idle with a bit of knock but apparently that's normal.

I just looked at one of these bikes here and it had new tires front and back but the rear one was bald in the tread but still had the nubs on the side ,front looked like new still had the mold tits still on it .The owner had no history of the bike .

Thanks guys. Hopefully I can get a good deal out of this

Any idea why the paint is non-OEM?  Was the bike involved in an accident previously?  Based on your description and assuming there is no major cosmetic or hidden frame damage I wouldn't pay over $1000 for it.
