I might normally say that I'm not sure an inline 4 is the best suited engine for an adventure bike, but it seems to me that many people buying adventure-styled bikes aren't running them off pavement anyway. So I don't think the engine configuration matters to most of the riders buying this model.
Also, maybe it's just me, but those bags look kind of small for a touring-oriented bike.
One cylinder is great for dual sporting...or adventure touring (adventure means getting into the semi unreachable places aka "off road")..two cylinders and the triples just end up too heavy, and 4 bangers are tanks in gravel and single track ....here is a great alternative to KLRS Vstroms Teniers etc...

dgordon, I am there with you. I am wondering when sport touring is going to go back to sport instead of gas fed stork? I know the VFR is a sport touring bike, and BMW still has the K1300s and Aprillia has the Tuono, but that is still along the lines of a naked bike. There used to be bikes from most brands that would give us a choice. Somehow, ADV morphed into ST. There was the Triumph Sprint ST, The Ducati ST4, the VFR, The FJR wasn't always a tank, etc, now, if its an ST, it seems that it has to look like it goes off road, even if it is about 300 lbs too heavy or, it is a freaking touring couch that is somehow getting passed as a ST bike, i.e. the Triumph Trophy or the FJR...
I am a little sad that the 8th Gen VFR wasn't a more modern bike, but really, to me it is a new endangered species. I just hope that it sells a lot and other manufacturers will take notice, but that ain't happening this year.
