Use A Rear Labled Tire For A Front Tire?

I want to use a small tire labeled as rear usage for a front tire, I seen to remember that the rotation had to be different than the mark on the tire.  Any comments?

Why?

Rear has a different crossection profile, although it would work just fine in a pinch.

But I wouldn't do any spirited riding with it though.

Crazy ST'ers do it with a car tire on the back. I don't recall if they flip it backwards or not...

And they also use a rear on the front, turned the other way around.

I've unbolted, ground down, repurposed, swapped, drilled and modded a LOT of things on my bike.

Personally, I wouldn't run a rear tire on the front.

Goldwingers do the same. A lot swear by it.

I wouldn't put a rear on the front, personally, no no. Strapped for cash, I'd just find a cheaper or used front.

Having said that ^^^^^ I will add that mini-supermoto riders often use front (street) tires on the rear, due to availability of sizes/rim fitment, but we are talking 100cc dirtbikes here, ridden at relatively low speeds, and with full gear, on closed courses.

A little different on a large heavy streetbike ridden on public roads at potentially high speeds.

I have a CB1100 and ride it a lot on the service roads in the national and state parks here, the CB handles dirt well with the wider handle bars and sit up seating.  Thought a more aggressive thread pattern would help.  It has 18 inch rims and although I've found 18 inch front tires, they are tube type and I've found 120x18 rear tires that are tubeless. That's the reason for my question.  Should have mentioned it up front.

My  question  is  are  you  wearing  out  the  front  tires on  the CB?

Or  think  it  will  more  stable  at  low  speed ?

Tire wear is not an issue, just wanted to improve the handling on dirt, but it will mess up road work so will have to beg my SO for a dual-sport----400 to 600cc
