I have trouble seeing the default speedo. So I would like to replace the dash, or at least pop out the analog tach and replace it somehow.

Any ideas?

Generally, here is an example of what I am looking for. I want a bright color with a prominent speedo.

my guess would be that this would be impossible...there is a lot of electronics in that dash...it also shows error codes,...lots of integrated circuitry..... maybe a GPS that can display speedo full screen (my old Garmin did) would work

Cheapest and easiest option is to buy a different motorcycle.

that looks harder to read than OEM

Yes but there are other options other than the translogic.

But all are a pain in the ass.  Perhaps mount a GPS on the steering stem that does speed by satellite.

If by harder to read, you mean cluttered, I'll agree it's a bit busy...  But it's a TN panel TFT display, which are typically very legible in bright sunlight, which was the OP's concern.

er! try a smartphone with a speedo app ?

The micro dash looks cool, but it is busy. I am looking for a display with a big speed indicator. I think and add on would be easier to get than a replacement. I can't see using a smart phone because the screen turns off every ten minutes and there is no way to turn that off on my phone.

usually the app will ask for permission to override screen timeouts when you install it  ...my GPS did
