Michelin Tires

I need new tires and was looking at Michelin PR2s.  On revzilla the prices don't make sense to me.

The PR2s are $167 the PR3s are $147 and the PR4s are $180 (rears).  Looks like the price performer  is the PR3 should I go with those? I will be replacing front and rears.

Currently have 12K on my second set of Metzlers. I am a conservative rider and won't be going to the track.

Keep shopping. PR4's are great tires. Got my front at $106 and rear at $145. Alot of shops are getting pissed off about people buy-in off the internet, then bringin in there wheels for the swap.....I've heard $45 a wheel.
Do you have a local shop up there that sell's PR's?

Look over at www.jakewilson.com, last few times I bought tires there they were the cheapest. But like Duccmann said, check local first, unless you have your own means to change tires, the savings you get may be negated by higher cost of changing your tire.

+1  on Jake Wilson.  They usually have the best prices on line with free shipping.  The PR2 in a 180 was $150.99 when I checked.   I have PR2's and love 'em.  I tried a set of PR3's and went back to PR2's.  I would however run the 3's or 4's if I were commuting and expecting to ride in the rain.

I've never run the PR3's, but my buddy who I've ridden 50K plus miles with said he liked the 2's & 4's better then the 3's.

I will run the PR2 rear until I can't get them anymore or PR4's go for the same price.

I doubt you would be disappointed with any of them!!!

Unless Duccmann got an "insider" deal, the price he got is very hard to beat, even if you add tax, but since he bought them and had them installed at the shop, shipping may be a factor.  For reference, JW has PR4 @ $140.99 / $169.99 (F/R).

Also, up until this last tire change, I was running a PP3/PR2 (F/R) combo and had great results, I ended up getting 13.6k miles out of them! Never had a worry about traction either. But as mentioned, PR3/4 would be better for wetter regions. This round I went with a PP3/PR4 (F/R)

The company that was selling this tire went out of buisness and all of the shops equip,tires etc etc ended up at the auction. I paid $120.00 for the PR3 rear for my 2002. Also, tire off the bike is $50.00 mount and balance at most local shops.

But, I might sell it and go with PR4 or try the new Angel GT's when my current PR2's wear out.

The Angle GT is a Nice tire, but will have about 50% the life of the Michelin IMO and not worth it.

Or do what OOTV did and get your own machine...
