I was planning on installing the upgrade to the wiring as shown on some great threads in here. Now I'm wondering which is the monitor wire? Is this an update to the unit? Any ideas guys? I haven't taken my old one off yet.
Ya, 2 red and 2 blacks wires only.

That should just be the output terminal, remember OEM (at least on a 5th gen) has 2x Positive and 2x Ground, plus the 3 yellow wires from the stator. I don't know 6th gen bikes well enough to comment on this, but I have seen OEM Shindengen R/Rs with 2x Red, 2x Green, and 1 monitor. If I remember correct that is an SH595-12, but don't quote me on that.
The post above mine was deleted, which makes this one irrelevant. Carry on.. nothing to see here
And the R/R I remember looking at was an SH579c-12.

It is a easy fix .
I've read the treads on the wire upgrades and was planning on it. Thing is the new rr seams not to have the 5 th monitor wire. 2 reds, 2 blacks ( ground) but no 5th wire. I told the supplier this and they told me that they have combined the grounds, well then why is the monitor wire post empty....it's missing the wire from the rr unit. They told me it's the proper unit for the bike and go ahead and install.
Model RM30505H. 2000 - 2009 VFR, doesn't make sense.
I will send them these extra pictures to get their reply.

Install shindengen FH020aa bolted straight on to the battery (fused) and soldered to the stator's wires. Forget the monitor wire, it was a gimmick.
