Hello
Issue: Bike wasn't/still isn't charging when the bike was hot, i.e.. stuck in stop and go traffic, even if RPM's were brought up to 5K
Background - Changed out the stator (Rick's) and RR (Rick's Mosfet), new battery (Yuasa OEM), and VFRness. Theoretically I have replaced everything with new parts. Bike works great when initially started and running on the hi way. 14.5 volts at 5K, around 13 at idle, but back to 14+ once RPM's go over 2K...until I get stuck in stop and go, then the voltage doesn't go over 12.3-13 regardless of RPM's.
Have checked the orange ground block, looks good, all have continuity to ground. Stator connector is hardwired, RR leads use the connector into the VFRness.
Has anyone else had issues only when the bike is hot, it all seems to work fine otherwise. Once the bike cools down, or I ride it the following day its back up to 14+.
Any thoughts of where else to look are appreciated. I've tried wiring the RR direct to the battery as well and bypassing the harness, same results. Which is leading to me think its either the RR or Stator as I get the same result whether wired through the harness or direct to the battery. Unless there is a larger load thats occurring when the bike is hot and in traffic.By hot, temp gauge is 100C or higher
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
