A 2013 CB500F. Has a little over 3k miles on it. Did about 200 miles on it yesterday and I have to say, it's a fantastic little machine. I have heated grips and a givi screen, swapped the fork oil for 15wt which really firmed up the front, adding some tank grip pads, a Saddleman gel seat pad, and frankly swapping in a 2011 GSXR750 rear shock which is a bolt on swap and is fully adjustable. I also threw some Dunlop Q3's on it and it is a serious threat to bikes twice its size in the twisters. And to top it all off I got 55mpg while riding it like a mad man. I am 6'4" and 225lbs and it fits me as good or better than my 5th gen VFR.

I'm not sure I could deal with the power of a 500 twin. I haven't ever owned a streetbike of less than 750cc displacement.

If you are coming to TMAC this year you can try mine. Ride it like a 2 stroke when strafing apexes or torque along in the upper gears and after a couple of miles you will forget what size it is. I did a 60 mile 2 up ride a month ago on mine and passenger and I were more comfy than we ever were on the VFR and the bike cruised effortlessly at 85 mph. 4 cylinder smoothness and long stroke torque give the engine a great feel and the seating position is better than many bikes 3 times its size. The bike stops feeling small after the first long ride yet you can do u-turns like it's a bicycle.

We bought the CB for teaching Donna's daughter how to ride but it has become my go-to sport bike for play days in the mountains. I enjoyed the test ride well enough to buy one but the ownership experience has exceeded expectations more than any bike I have ever owned. It is that good a bike (after new rubber and simple suspension upgrades). I run it with a KTM Duke 690 all of the time which was another bike I wanted to add to the fleet. For my riding style the CB is a better bike in almost every way. Another KTM SMC rider recently swapped bikes with me for 60 miles. Said he would replace his 290 pound SMC with a CB500F just like mine if he wrecked the KTM. That is quite a testament to the performance potential of the humble CB. A total sleeper of a ride.

Agree with everything Kebrider said. Yesterday was my first real ride on it, did about 200 miles in the mountains and its just a stunning little machine. I had no issue chasing down a Superhawk being ridden pretty well on 181 or keeping up with Ironman on his 6th gen. There's really no need for more power.

I bet in North Carolina! Out here though long stretches of slab to get to the good stuff, lots of hill climbing, and big headwinds. I can see how it would fit the deals gap area rather nicely!

15w fork oil ? what do they run as stock 

I would of thought that would make it feel like a jackhammer  without revalving

I had one of these as a loan bike from the dealer for 2 days and it was a load of fun around town but not so much after an 1.5 hours on the hi-way at 110km/h

I am 6'4"and 115 kilo's and I became a bit like a sail

I would imagine they would make an excellent learner bike

The givi fly screen makes a world of difference.

7wt was what my mechanic said was in it originally. Its not perfect but it makes the front end feel much more secure. I'm working wth a limited budget.
