Nc 30 Drains Battery And Now Won't Start

Hello friends. Without warning it suddenly started running on battery only and drained it. I put a new battery on and a new rectifier, regulator. Looked for any loos wiring and nothing obvious. Checked the main battery fuse. No difference, just drains it and won't fire up.

I then followed advice from earlier posts and checked the resistance between all the combinations of the three yellow wires at the junction box on the right of the machine. They all read around 1 ohm, so none is a broken circuit. Can't test the output voltage as the bike won't run, but winding it over did cause some change on the alternator when set to volts... Does that mean the stator coil is ok? Could you please give suggestions as to what to try next? I could take the stator off but don't want to if there are other things to try first.

Why won't the bike run? That is your problem! The charging system is only there to charge the battery; the bike runs off the battery.

You'll need to have the engine running to properly assess the stator's output.

Ah, I see. I'll check some other things then, fuelling.

Regulator doesn't get a reading on any ohm scale across its 5 points when disconnected so assumed it may be that and the secondhand replacement is the same (Haynes manual shows various resistances but don't get any readings).

Also each of the yellow wires from the stator has 1.7 ohms each, all identical. A bit higher than the 0.1 to 1 ohms expected, not sure if anyone has a view of that.
