Question For Those With Ram X-Grips (Solved)

I just added my steering stem RAM mount to use with my X-Grip. When I put my phone in for the first time I was shocked to find that the phone and spring tensioned X crosses can rotate about an inch. I understand how it is doing it, but it doesn't seem like it would be by design. 

So for those who have a X-Grip, does your device rotate once in the grip?

Mine does. But not "randomly", meaning I can rotate it a bit but it stays in that orientation unless I move it.

Ditto here as well, actually works out as a nice feature in that I can rotate up over ignition for clearence, but simple swipe to the side can easily access key to remove. On recent 2000 mile trip worked faultlessly , kudos to RAM.

I do like being able to rotate from portrait to landscape whenever I choose.  As far as the performance of the X-grip, I can't complain Well over 5,000 miles, on some pretty rough roads, and nary a glitch.  I thought about adding some industrial strength velcro to the back of the phone as an added safest measure, then it has't failed yet, so why bother?

My tablet X grip does the same. It's an unavoidable result of the design. If you really don't want to move, you can break off a popsicle stick to lock it in, or something more high tech. It doesn't bother me, and I'm right at 4000 miles of using it with the CheapPS

That is almost exactly what I was thinking about doing. I was going to use a plastic shim though. Your idea is a little more redneck!  :goofy:
