In San Fransico
Obviously Alcatraz and get some clam chowder at Pier 39 but I'm sure you already knew that. Was there 15 yrs ago. Fun city.
So many great restaurants, hard to go wrong. Go hiking in the Marin headlands or lands end for some amazing views of the city and then over to Sausalito and eat at Fish. If you are only staying in the city, definitely make a trip to the Ferry Building. Great little shops and restaurants in there, plus this year is the 100 year anniversary.
There literally is so much to do in the city, your preferences would help to narrow down the options.
If the weather is nice, rent a bike from Fishermans Wharf area (we used Blazing Saddles) and cycle over the Golden Gate bridge to Sausolito, and catch the ferry back. I took my family to CA in late December last year, and this was a highlight for us.
