what would you do?
what would you do?
I would say something to him when stopped safely at a light. But only if everything on my bike was in order, along with my license and insurance card in case they started to take offense.
With more and more drivers/ riders running cameras recording everything around them now (like me), we are seeing citizens turning in videos of police driving carelessly and even heard of a few suspensions if it was extreme. They should be held accountable no differently than anyone else. In their position as they should set the positive example for the public.
Had it happen while entering work last year , ran into the chief at a lunch at the airport . Told him " one of your officer's enter the road without checking the ride of way and I had to brake hard to avoid hitting him. Now it was 04:30 am and he was doing a perimeter check BUT still I almost hit the Crown Vic " His responds was " we don't have any Crown Vic's" I said " you have one and I have the video "
He said " oh yeah I have one but not for much longer and I doubt you will see him again "
So you got cut off, it happens all the time.
People make errors, especially motorcyclists. So really, just get over it.
imho, this would not be the hill I'd want to die on. Being cut off is basically what we all expect and try to plan for. The fact it happened with a police officer, who knows. Maybe he had to get to a call. Bottom line is to do anything about it will most likely take a lot of time and effort to follow through with. I would be thankful I was able to react accordingly and move on. My view is the police have a hell of job to do and I'm grateful they are there. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.
Dave.
+1 I try to take those events as lessons, because not only can cars cut us off, but so can deer, dogs or other hazards. It's a good reminder to ride with total presence of mind and keep repeating Maxswell's mantra "I'm invisible and everyone's out to kill me."
Terry is my hero ! He has already killed more deer with a motorcycle then most deer hunters kill in a lifetime deer hunting . :goofy:
