After going through two VFR's, an '06 and a '99, and two BMW's (a boxer and a K1200R), I'm considering getting something with two wheels again. I got out completely in 2010 after a freakish slow speed fall totaled my last remaining bike (the '06). You can look at my post count and tell I was once active here. When I left, I left though.
Now that I don't know the latest and greatest in the bike world 6 years later, I was wondering what is now competing with the new Interceptors which is basically the same bike with tweaks as the old VTEC VFR's it looks like (correct me if I'm wrong).
I didn't like the heaviness of the VFR, it needs a little more power, better brakes, but it is an all day comfortable rider that is capable of going fast in the twisties which is how I rode. The VFR will go as fast as I will go on anything but the weight is high so it takes patience for me to ride it but I did once and could again. Not interested in liter bikes or Gixxer types.
Just looking for suggestions on what to consider given what I've had and what's available now. Thanks, Bent.... :goofy:

Thanks Dutchy. It never left. After losing the last VFR, I was (and may still be) too busy with "life" to really consider getting another one. I can now, but I knew how I rode and knew that I couldn't slow it down so just left it alone. That's still tugging at me. I think it's called speed addiction.
The new Yamaha's are getting all the buzz. They don't look near the quality of the good old VFR though. You should score a test of the new VFR. One of the things mentioned was that it felt lighter than it is.
The other thing that has become popular here at VFRD for those who want to dial it back is to go smaller and leave the throttle pinned. :goofy: All of them can of course leave me in the dust on anything but a straight road. Several CBR500 converts will speak up shortly I'm sure. Give me a shout if you get another bike and want to ride sometime.
Too many folks tell me// " once a VFR guy, always a VFR guy". But I will disagree.
After having a '87 & '99, still got the '93 and recently picked up a '04 VFR. I've ridden about every bike and brand in between.
Will have to say if I didn't "steal" the '04, I would have either a 5th Gen VFR, Sprint 1050 ST or a 1st Gen Yamerhaw FZ1 in the basement. Yes I know, neither the FZ1 or the ST are the latest and greatest.
Spent about 3 weeks each on the FZ07 and 09. As modern and "techy" as they are, personally would not purchase either one. To me they ended up feeling too BLAH.
Wife Inc and I had the discussion of " just one bike" the other day.... and don't shoot me folks, but would have to say the '03 BumbleBee FZ1..... IF I couldn't find a yellow 5th Gen.... LOL

You have to try the 8G VFR. It is lighter than your 06 and better brakes as well.
