I have a super noob question, but I know we all have to start somewhere.
My battery on my 98 has died, to the point it wont let it crank. I had the Battery Tender on it for a few hours and I was able to get it almost around to my back porch. I know that my landlords love bikes on their lawn (NOT), so I am hoping to get enough of a charge on it before I call it a night that I can get it onto the porch.
With all of that useless information out of the way, here is my question. Can I remove the battery from the bike, bring both the battery and the Battery Tender into the living room to charge the battery, so that it can charge all night and I don't have to worry about theft, or more importantly RAIN!!!

yes you can. This is typically how you hook it up on the bike anyway. The additional wiring of the bike is just additive.
The battery tender is only 0.75 amps and is not really meant to be a battery charger. If the battery is really dead, then it will probably struggle to do much of anything. Do you have anyone who you could borrow a real charger from? For that matter, no friends available to help push the bike? that would be even faster.
Try to avoid charging this completely discharged battery in the house. The battery releases hydrogen while charging which is explosive. The dead battery and the state of the charger could mean large amounts of gas released. This is unlikely, as the volume of gas is normally quite low, but it is something to be on your radar.
If you do decide to do this, have fans blowing through the charging area and out of the house to completely dilute the dangerous gas.

If it's an AGM battery on a proper charger, there should be very little to no "gassing". That said, I'm not going to suggest you charge it in your bedroom while you sleep!
