So i tried starting the old girl for the fir time in close to a decade. I notice some smoke, and spot this this. Not really sure how to go about fixing this

That to me looks like the connector between the stator (or dynamo or altenator as some call it) and the voltage regulator (converting the ac into dc).
Do a search for "the drill" if you own (and know how to use) a multimeter.
Tell us some more about yourself!
Is there a more classic issue than than this? Cut the plug out and solder the wires directly, doesn't matter which wires go where. Take a reading at the battery to verify it's charging...mid 13's at idle to mid 14's at 2krpm.
