Well, my turn has come to deal with the dreaded burnt stator connector. I had the harness recall done in August 2009. A few weeks back I noticed electrical trouble and traced it down to the stator (continuity on the ground side). RR diode tested fine (amazingly!) So my question is this: I need a new stator but should I also order an upgraded rotor (I understand the original is 107 mm and upgraded is 115)?
Thoughts?
The parts fiche show both as no longer available for your '02 - Honda superceded them with the larger units. You could have Custom Rewind rewind your existing stator and stick with the existing rotor. IIRC if you purchase a new stator you won't have a choice but to go with the newer rotor to clear the stator. I'd be inclined to go with the latter and get the increased output.
Thanks for the advice. I got the stator housing apart and measured. The inside diameter is 11.5 cm (115mm) as is the stator. I had the wiring harness recall done back in '09 so they must've done this at the same time. Here's a pic of a crispy stator for attention:
