What Virginia Tech learned about us motorcyclist

So a while back I received a letter from Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI for short). The letter was an offer to place some cameras and sensors on one of my bikes so they could do a study. Unfortunately it wasn't a done deal, you had to go through an interview process and then they would get back to you. Well I did the interview, answering some 20-30 questions about me, my bikes, riding habits, bike mods, etc., but never received a call back. Well I guess this article is about that study. I wish I was able to be part of it but it was cool to at least get to the first interview.

You were probably not old enough for the old guys group and not squidly enough for the not so old group.

It's good someone is doing studies newer than the Hurt report.

This study's a great start. It's interesting to note that motorcyclists crashed roughly once per 10k miles.

If I crashed every 10k miles....

That would be ridiculous. Like almost every year.

I don't count those low or no speed Doh! tip overs as crashes. :schla15:
