I'm planning a ride down to Laguna Seca for July 8th-10th, (Thats what I have on my calendar for the Superbike races) from north of Seattle, probably take a week down and up - leaving Seattle Tue July 6th evening, after work! Probably go to Portland that night - Motel. (Its summer, there will be light). Wednesday through Oregon bridges, southwest to Nor Cal, camping. Thursday 101 down through Bay area. Leaving Bay area on Monday the 11th - early, head up through Calistoga for brunch - early lunch. A bit of twistie north out of Calistoga, then over to I-5 for a slab ride. Leave I-5 at Shasta (Pizza in Weed CA). Expect to be in south of Klamath Falls OR by Mon night - camping. Tuesday goes through Crater Lake, back to concrete slab. (or go on up to I-84 east of the mountains, not sure yet) Stay in Eugene - Motel, (or keep going). Returning by Wednesday the 14th, afternoon if possible to Seattle metro, Portland metro by Wednesday lunchtime. Iron butt riding will be required. I can do 600-1000 miles in a day, but don't expect everyone else to. I have to be back for the 13th or 14th.
I may have to be more aggressive and take the I-5 slab up from Eugene to Seattle by Tuesday night.
Route consists of coastal - farmland west of I-5 ride down, and a high desert and mountain east of I-5 ride up. Avoidance of I-5 as time permits.
I havn't confirmed this yet, and have to co-ordinate with a few other riders, but if anyone is interested in potentially meeting along the way, let me know.
I'm staying in Santa Clara, about 70 miles out from Laguna Seca and "commuting" in for the race with a group of riders. We will probably spend a little recreational time in Monterey and San Francisco over the weekend too, esp. if it too crazy at the track.
