VFR Discussion Group -> Wisconsin Viffer's??

Anyone in Wisconsin? looking for some people to ride with this year.

Where are you in Wisconsin? Most of my longer rides are to west central/south Wisconsin. The roads are much, much better (twisty) than anything around here. I usually end up around Soldiers Grove, Viroqua, LaFarge, Hillsboro,.....my buddy has a farm by Hillsboro in fact,....the perfect weekend getaway for me.

There are a few of us here, more than are on the Member Map I think.

There are also a few Wisconsin Boards, not only VFR, that might be better for local rides.

Actually, if you are heading to Viroqua, you'll pass right by me! I live in Tomah, which is right near La Crosse(about 40 minutes). If all goes well with the interview on Wednesday, I'll be moving to Viroqua anyhow.

Oh, and not really a football guy, so not big on the Packers. I prefer a sport that requires 2 balls, thats why I race!!

I was just giving you crap Sportrods, I'm not much of a Vikings fan either, although I might follow them with more interest now that they got rid of that punk Randy Moss. :D

Man you live smack dab in the middle of some beautiful roads. I've learned to keep a sharp eye out for horse crap from the Amish horse carts though!

I'm not from your neck of the woods, but from WI nonetheless (Appleton). Nice roads are few and far between up here, so I've been on some rides in SE WI. Wildcat' a lot of fun. Check outWisconsin Motorcycling for some riders in your area.

I love the ride around here. Being close to Wildcat is great. Juneau County is pretty sweet as well, especially around Cty W. Already hit up WM.com, so I have some people there ready to do some riding as well.


Man, this is killing me. I'm waiting for nice weather so I can get some seat time!! I took it to Leisure Time Sports to have a new rear tire and chain and picked up a nice tank bag while I was at it.

Hopefully I will see you guys out for a ride this year. Also I'm up for a group ride sometime this year if you guys like.

I used to be a Cheesehead and lived in Marinette/Menominee and In the Milwaukee/Glendale and Brown Deer areas.
Everyone raved about the Door County Peninsula, But it is usually done in discussions about fish boils and snowmobiling :D .
Yeah, my Honda Hawk GT's tire sidewalls hardly kissed the asphalt when I was riding it around the Southeastern part of the State. At least I never had to deal with any Kamikaze type cage traffic, except, of course when I did encountered those City Slicker hosers just south of the state border on the road! :pissed:

I don't live in WI, but I went to a friend's wedding up there a couple of years ago. It was a town called Menomonie and had a satellite U of W school there, IIRC. IIf the small town and bad spelling are throwing you off, I think some folks told me it was only about an hour from the Twin Cities of Minnesota.)

The trip up through Illinois was excruciatingly straight and flat, even in southern WI. Once we got on up into the state, the roads got better. By the time we got into the hills around Menomonie, I was wishing I had a bike to ride.

I went in mid March. The lake was still solid and there were plenty of ice fishermen (first time I'd actually seen that). The locals were super friendly. I felt right at home except for being dissappointed in the dress. The temperature had risen into the mid 60's and low 70's, so I was expecting the cold hardened WI folks to be running around half naked. I wore shorts and a T-shirt, but everybody I saw was wearning turtleneck sweaters, jackets, etc. and long pants. I couldn't believe this Tennessean was wearing shorts while those WI folks still wore the heavy stuff!

As I said earlier, the people were great. We had the reception at a little bar in a nearby town. One guy was a snowmobile racer. When he found out I was into bikes, he offered me to ride his race prepped snowmobile. I would have loved to take him up on the offer, but I had to leave the next morning in order to make it back to TN in time to go back to work on Monday. The local microbrews were excellent, but I just couldn't get into the curds that everyone bragged about! :rolleyes:

To everybody...if the VFR.D guys from WI are anything like the people I met, they are some really great guys! :thumbsup:

I ment to say, I like the SW part of the state. I have not ridden in the SE part of the state a whole lot and really don't know the roads very well.

Hey TBZEP, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to Wisconsin. To bad you didn't get a chance to ride a snowmobile, you would have liked it. I'm also guessing you did not have fresh cheese curds because, the fresher they are the better they taste.
