I just received mine yesterday from Dynohum. While trying to install it, I found that the metal bracket that is supposed to attach to the suspension linkage, will not reach. Anybody else install one of these? How did it go?
It's difficult to get a picture, but the bracket appears to be too short vertically, and horizontally. Even if I bend the hugger and try to force it, the bracket won't reach. [image: Click for full size]
Couple of options, 1. send it back or try to get a new bracket. Or 2. get a small piece of metal and drill the hole you need to mount it and attach it to the bracket by small rivets or nut and bolt(small) Does look good though. Looks really nice with the black paint.
I had the same problem with this exact product for my 02 VFR. I was able to bend my bracket a bit and make it reach. The consequence for that was the bracket eventually broke about 2 weeks later. So then I just JB welded the bracket to swingarm. It's still holding about a year later and can be pried off if needed. Probably should have sent it back but I didn't. Also noticed the CF was a bit thin in a couple of spots.
Bummer, FWIW I had purcahsed one when I first got my '03 in in late '02.......and I sent it back for the reasons you mentioned as well as it was very thin and looked to be prone to cracking and breakage. Hope you have better luck.........have you checked out the NWS "ghost" hugger they have for the VTEC.....that's what I ended up going with after trying the Thurn and another brand. Bottom line is that there aren't any great huggers made for our bikes but in my experience the NWS was the lesser of evils :lol:

I wanted something that replaced the stock chainguard. I hate that heavy black plastic. Other than the bracket doesn't reach it looks and works great. I may just JBweld it to the swingarm like VFRMike did.

Me too, I was trying to get an integrated hugger/chainguard as well......problems with the Thurn as I mentioned(actually now that I think of it, part of the chain guard was broken off when I got it), tried the Harris CF next and the mounting holes didn't even come close to lining up, and ended up with the NWS......lesser of evils :goofy:
