I'm still getting my bike legs under me but if you don't mind a newb I'm always down for a ride. I've got my beautiful bike up to a whopping 240 miles now...

I don't know of any routes as I really haven't taken any yet. I am probably not the best bet for a lead but I follow like no other! :blink:

Not real familiar with good back roads either. Since I am in Fenton, looks like the group from Pontiac & Ypsi & i could hook up and ride up toward GR.

To all others...I'm game. I don't have anything at the moment going on for Saturday afternoon and I know the Meijer you're talking about. I don't have too long however because I have to be home and showered 4:30. Just let me know if 2-230 works and I'll be there. I'm the one on the beautiful black bike that looks like he doesn't know what he's doing. :thumbsup:

Ok cool, just wanted to be sure we didn't all show up and not know where we were going. Have a fun ride over, was just looking at the roads over there on a map, look very good.
That's understandable. Kinda of a long ride from your part of the state.
Unfortunately, I am just like Miguel Duhamel...or at least I'd imagine. I'm probably something like he was when he was 1 or 2 years old...a little wobbly still and somewhat awkward. :D

Sorry guys, I cannot make it either. I am STILL fighting the 5 day flu!

two open invites for you VFRD'ers... 1) Make it over to the east side and I'll show you around. Believe it or not there are some good roads around here. Somewhere like Stockbridge would be a good spot to meet. 2) Do the track day with me at Grattan on 4/30 or 5/1 (I'm doing both! first CW, second CCW). I don't want to be the only VFR there.

I don't know jleberhart, i think they might be jealous of me more. I spent the day moving plants from one flowerbed to another then went with the wife to "pick" patio furniture. Somehow we came home with two paychecks worth of furniture. doh. On the plus side the wife realized how much I gave up yesterday to do work around the house nad run errands with her so she didn't mind me being gone for most of the day. woohoo, had a nice 300 mile ride today to Muskegon then down the lakeshore before heading back to GR.

Wolverine is on to some slick twists. What would it take to get some westerners, (and everyone else), out this way? Blessed in Hell, is May 15th. We could meet, hit that, hit some twisties,..............do some steaks,... :goofy: :beer: Thing is, it's on Sun. Many may not be able to do it.,...?

I think I can make it.
"Sick" implies greatness. I wouldn't go that far, Rivcyko. I am on to the best riding the region has to offer, though. I can't do the May 15th date. Incidently, I'll be on some truly great roads in WV, VA, & NC at that time - sorry to rub it in.
I can get some rides in betwen now and then with you, Rivcyko (and anyone else). I'm moving to TX soon and need to pass the local knowledge to someone here in VFRD.

In correspondance with my son, he mentioned that there is a VFR Rally down south that weekend. That will be the same weekend that I am heading down with my group. I found this link, even though it is from last year, but gives some of the details of the VFR COTU Rally that will be happening. I'm assuming that it will be very similar this year. Looks like we could both be right in the mix of things. I don't think my planned route with interfere with them, or vice versa, not sure about yours though!

Hi to all those Michigan VFR riders (and Ohio, too, Bunsel!)
I wanted to get everyone thinking about another possible group get-together. On Sunday, May 15, there is a totally awesome motorcycle event here in Michigan called the "Blessing of the Bikes". It takes place in Baldwin, Michigan (about 60 miles north of Grand Rapids). I went last year for the first time and was pretty much blown away. There were over 30,000 motorcycles at this event! :blink:
This year is the 33rd Annual Blessing of the Bikes, and will once again be held at the Baldwin Airport (on M-37, just on the south side of town). The gates to the airport open at 9am, and the blessing is at 1pm. Cost to enter is $3.00 and it all goes to local charities.
This is a large Harley/Cruiser/Touring Bike get together (all makes), with Sport Bikes only making up about one quarter to a third of the bikes (which is still almost 10,000 bikes). Last year I only saw one other Interceptor, so we NEED to make a better statement than that! If you like to people watch, and look at every kind of motorcycle you can imagine, it does not get any better than this.
I rode with a group of 18 other sport bike riders last year, and followed them on a wonderful ride through the back roads of Michigan. We met early (I think I left the house before 7am) and stopped along the way for breakfast. It was my first group ride, and I had a wonderful time (I didn't lead!)
I'm talking with a guy from work that I rode with last year, and as I get more information about "his" group of friend's plans, I will pass it along. So, start thinking about this, and let's see if we can make a VFR showing to be proud of! :thumbsup:

I've always heard great things about the blessing, but I won't be around for it. Unfortunately, my days of MI riding will be over by then. I'm riding the VFR to Texas that weekend, then getting married and moving in June. I'd love to meet up again sometime before then, though. I've always wanted to do the Lelenau (sp?) peninsula, but don't know if I'll be able to swing it. Just running out of weekends.
