Hi all - noticed this strange tire wear I hadn’t seen before on my 6th gen, stock suspension, 72,000 km on the odo, I have an aftermarket hugger but I don’t think it’s rubbing.
Tires are Michelin Pilot Road 5 2CT with about 10,000 km on them. It is the dark bands on the outside edge of the tread that I feel like look different/new.

My guess is that it looks like the different compound on the shoulder and that you're applying throttle from your max lean up to medium lean then feathering the throttle. The actual extent of the softer shoulder compound is about double the width of the darker wear area in your photo. Assume there's no rubbing noises or any problems with traction or grip when riding.
They look quite squared off as well but not surprising at 10k km
Absolutely that is where the soft compound meets the hard compound. Here's a similar photo off the back of my MT-10.

The photos of tyres in this thread show a raised edge at the rear part of the tread particularly at lean. On track that could indicate insufficient rebound but I'm not sure the same applies for road riding. Any thoughts?
