Hello, I've only had my new 98 Gen 5 a week. One of the first things i've noticed is, when opening the tank it is pressurised on the inside and makes a puffing sound as it opens.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I assume there is a vent somewhere that maybe blocked.

Pressurize is not the worry... vacuum is... because if the vent plugs the fuel pump
will create enough vacuum to collapse the tank... I've witnessed a VFR tank collapse
after the gas cap vent clog...

The vent is through the small hose plugged in from underneath, not the fuel cap. I would check the hose hasn't been plugged, or kinked, first.
I recently had the tank off doing a spark plug change and when replacing the tank clamped the metal hose holder too tightly over the hose and noticed on the next ride a strong vacuum when trying to open the gas cap. Loosened the clamp thingy and no problems. The vacuum was so strong it was difficult to lift the gas cap.
Aftermarket gas caps (like the one from vortex) typically have venting built-in. I have had great experiences with them, but some folks have spicy opinions on them, so YMMV if you want to go that route.
