I have a problem ref. the FI light on my 1999 VFR 800. When I put on the dipped beam the FI indicator lights up. If I then pull the front brake lever and use the pass light switch all at the same time the engine cuts out. The FI light does not flash when the engine is started and the side stand left down. If I am riding on the road with the dipped beam on the FI light is continuously on , if I switch to side lights only the FI goes out. At the weekend the bike cut out on me 3 times while running with all the lights out at constant speeds between 90 - 100 MPH but would run ok at 70 MPH or below ( it restarts after a few minutes and pulls strongly throughout the rev. range up to the rev. limiter in lower gears ).
A while back my Regulator/ Rectifier pack up which was replaced with a second hand Regulator/ Rectifier and a new Battery. The second hand Regulator/ Rectifier was from a 900 Honda , this seamed to cure the problem but the FI light started to come on occasionally after 200 miles. This Regulator/ Rectifier was then replaced with a new pattern unit for the VFR 800 , which brings me to where I am now.
If anyone has any ideas what is wrong I would be most greatfull to hear from them.
Thanks
john
