Hey guys I am new to riding motorcycles and have a question. How much of a horsepower gain do I have with a 2 brothers exaust? Also can I had performance headers to my 98 and improve horsepower? If so, how much can I expect to gain from a header back exaust system? Am I correct that these came stock with 95 horsepower? beer.gif
my information says the most you are going to gain if anything is a couple of horsepower at most. Mainly what folks do is the exhaust for cosmetics and sound quality then add a PCII or PCIII depending on year of bike to smooth out and tweak other performance issues specific to each generation of bike.
Yes the PC II or PCIII is the Power Commander. To be honest there is probably someone on here that could comment better on the performance of a header back system as I am not familiar with the gains realized or not from such a system
No replies on any benefits of a header back system? HUH?
Are there any signs of a bike running lean or rich?
What will the power commander do to improve my bike? Please be specific' I am new to this stuff. I only have access to a desktop, no laptop to take out by the bike.? I was thinking a header back exaust along with the chip it be nice gain in power!
polishing the frame....and how much weight would it add........hmmmm......r you asking us like as an actual question.....meaning being serious? NO WEIGHT!! unless you chrome it to polish u actually remove metal// as far as cost it depends on your skill level. you can do it yourself but it takes some time and some elbow grease my brother..there r a ton of items you can buy to do it or you can spring 4 someone else to and that's basically how much they feel their time is worth. I'm no super tech like i have read on the board but the benies of a full on header system would be that the engine will "breath alot easier as all the header pieces would be of equal length so backpressure is even across the system as a whole and yes it would result in a hp gain. 120??? now do you want reliable 120? it's not my place to tell ya you don't need it but reliable 120 is a lot of $$$ away. if ya don't care then strap on some NOS and grenade your bike after a few days of bein cool. IT's not nor will it ever be a r1//cbr//zx10 beater. but the whole apeal of the vfr 2 me is that exact fact, its not a cbr//gsxr//zx//cookie cutter//same as every other poser on the planet crotch rocket!! beer.gif
My $35 HRCA membership paid the full $55 cost of my experienced rider course (ERC) this summer and then I get an additional discount on my insurance. Now that is a worthwhile mod that adds no weight and makes my bike faster AND safer. Top that one.
VFR666, Nov 12 2005, 06:51 PMWhat would it take to get up to like 120 rwhp?
How much does it cost to polish a frame and swingarm?
Will that add alot weight uneccasaraly?
C'MON help me
It sounds like you're a pretty intense guy. Are you sure you don't want a bike that's more sport-oriented out of the box? You could easily spend a fortune on your VFR that might be better spent making a tightly focused sport bike more comfortable.
I was thinking chroming would add weight not sure about polishing.
I have been told that with a full header back exaust, big bore kit and a power commander I would be pretty fast and comfortable after getting the nose job corbin!
Maybe I should look for an all out sports bike but I love this bike! this is the bike I have!
My helmet reflects my personality, not squidley tendancies. I dont think i did get the wrong bike, I am new to cycling. But I also do own a 76 bicentennial goldwing. I have yet to ride it though! Needs work.
I think you guys are right though. I should just do some minor performance mods and minor fuel mods and be done with it. Be happy with a VFR like everyone else's . And If I want to go fast and have a helmet I like, I gotta get a different bike. Fine maybe I'll take my goldwing and my VFR up to the local bike shop and see what he's got to trade. I like all the 06 models out which one will I get? idea3.gif I don't have any credit that's right I 'll have to ride the bike I got.
Which is totally fine with me. I love my bike and my helmet!

If you want to be fast, become a better rider. You are nowhere near the limits of your VFR until you're showing your rear tire to Freddie Spencer on a track.
It's not about horsepower, it's about your abilities and as a new rider you're already over your head if you're thinking you "need" anything more than gear and skills.
This is not a shot nor judgement - it is the voice of experience from someone that has physical scars from learning the hard way. Take a track course and spend all that money on a top-notch set of leathers, boots, gloves etc. You should assign value to your own skin above anything else.
Don't tempt fate man, it tends to bite back and hard. fing02.gif
I think you should keep the VFR as it's much more comfy to ride than say, CBR, ZX ninjas, and gixxrs... BTW i have a '93 VFR750F with TWO-BROTHERS full header system and i'm sure i'm every bit of 100hp and this old heavy weight has laid the SMACK DOWN on many late model ricers at the drag strip posting many low 11sec passes so don't think the V4 dosn't have what it takes to play just be careful and keep it at the track.... wheel.gif

I bought the bike used but don't know much history of it. It sounds freaking mean and tons of torque...
VFR666, Nov 22 2005, 08:04 PMAnother ? about exaust. When shifting gears it seems like a get a slight backfire. What could this be ? and should I only use 93 octane?
The slight backfire is normal unless it becomes constant and loud. Regular gas is what the VFR is designed for, but if you notice any pinging while pulling from low rpms go ahead and use a mid-grade instead.
When you have used all the HORSEPOWER and TORQUE that Honda has already sold you and you have learned how to push the bike to its limits and then come back down, then look to create more horsepower. No offense bro but it seems as though there is still alot you need to learn about riding and mechanics. If I were you I would take it slow for a while and learn the bike in and out then start looking to advance. CRAWL>WALK>RUN.
Take care and ride SAFE!
