Pictures of exhaust mods

Hello everyone
I am looking into pipes for me 05 red Viffer and cant seem to find any pics of your mods on here, can anybody post some pics of thier exhaust mods so i can have a look?
I'm looking at the carbon and have a red viffer but all pics will be fine

And what do you think the best brand is, for an 05 model

Staintune. The best exhaust is a staintune. I have one on my 1999, sounds and looks awsome.

Remus Carbon fiber all the way. Many many of us run them through a group buy I set up with Sporttour. Talk to Glen there and he will get them right out to you. Check my gallery there should be some photos in there. If not, PM me with your email address and I will email you some

Remus is the way to go on a 6th generation. Staintunes were good on 5th and back.

I'm thinking Remus also for the 6th generation. The proportion looks good to me but I'm waffling between the carbon and the Ti. I've yet to find a pic of the Remus Ti on a red bike showing the entire bike from the side. If there are any such pics, would some kind person please point me in the right direction.

just use photoshop to clone some in if you can't find anything. Several folks on this site are good with that program.

I picked these up for cheap off one of the guys on here and did a full exhaust gut. They now sound totally evil, very nice! fing02.gif I am also planning on getting rid of the chrome finish and scrubbing in more of brushed look. You can find the info on how to do it yourself by searching for "exhaust gut". If you use your own exhaust and have basic tools the total cost is $0.

They look much better if you get rid of that hideous fender!

Check out my gallery, there are a couple of pics with Polished Aluminum Remus in there...in my opinion there are no other pipes that fit as well as these, I like the sound but that is very subjective but pretty hard to argue the fit issue.

Personally, I like the polish on the Staintunes but find the sound rather harsh and frankly they are "WAY" to big and as a result don't look as clean...the Remus looks as if it was made for the bike.

FWIW

It looks like the Remus retains the stock mid-pipe (between the cat and cans), is that right? I say that because the pics show the stock heatshield on the right side of the bike. If so, do you cut off the stock cans? If not, does the Remus mid-pipe include a bracket for the stock heatshield? I think the bike looks better without it.

Mildly gutted with powder coated shields. If I were to choose an aftermarket exhaust it would be the tunes or the remus. The remus in titanium look pretty sweet. I prefer the small size of the remus but like the sound of the staintunes just a tad more.

I seen a few pics now where the 'rear mudflap' is short, just holding the license plate only.
Is this a replacement you can buy or do you guys modify the original?

Basically, remove the mud flap and only use the metal bracket its attached too.

Bascially, just be creative with it and you'll have a "no/low cost" fender eliminator.

Hey Dutchie,
I just bolted mine to my saddlebag brackets. Like the other guys have said, just make your own bracket. It's really pretty easy. I couldn't easily fit mine back between the pipes unless I ditched part of the bracketry. I kind of liked the way it turned out.
p.s. I absolutely love the matte black too!

If you don't want chrome try the Titanium which has a very expensive looking satin finish and never needs re-packing.

I went with the Remus CF which are light and cool to the touch even after a ride. They happen to look slick on the VFR IMO. CF needs re-packing however. The sound is bassy and deep at low revs but not obnoxiously loud at any time. To be fair the Staintunes may sound a little deeper and more rumbly.

All Remus GP model pipes are short (cans do not stick out far like Micron), fit well, retain the OEM ankle heat shield (no others can say that).

That's nice the poweder coating. It's a nice temporary solution before getting a new system.

The more I look at the pipes, the more I'm leaning toward the Remus Titanium. Staintune are definately not what I would be looking for (steel?) Erion Racing would probably be another good option performance wise, but how significant would that be?
The more I think about it, the more I llike Remus.

is that paint or powdercoat on your wheels?

You see, Dutch did what I've been thinking for the past several weeks, only I'm thinking just slightly different. I want to bead blast the high polish chrome bits so they match the frame a little better and am thinking I want to powder coat the cans matte black. It seems like if I powder coat the cans and the back covers, and blast the heat shields... it'll look pretty nice. I plan on doing this when I gut the OEM cans.

I liked the look of the BOS pipes. They really fit the shape of the bike good. I like the sound too.

Here's what I did a few years ago on my former 02. For the CF D&D's, I had a local muffler shop make the up pipe for a single exhaust a'la 2 bros. The left was for looks only. That lower clamp just got me home from the shop. I later added a stock clamp. The CF termignoni's utilized the stock up pipe and bolted to it. Both sounded great. I just like the oval look better.

I emailed D&D back in November asking them about a setup for the VTEC and they told me they were working on a set that may come out this year. Hopefully they weren't blowing smoke.

Hey no offense taken. I got the idea from BaileyRoc when I met him at a VFR ride held at the gap. I don't think the 2bros "stash" system was out yet but I could be wrong about that. Anyway, unless it's cold (water vapor) or you put your hands on them, you'll never know that it's only a single exhaust.

If you want loud on a VTEC, this is the way to go (with a catless header).

Thanks, there are round Farracci(?) Duc cans that I cut 4-5" off. Never Liked the heat shield, but it looks very unfinished as is. sad.gif
