I couldn't find the exhaust poll that David Mackintosh (fallzboater) did earlier (Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken.) and I don't want to rehash, but I'm mainly curious how many of us are doing the group buy for the Staintunes. I for one feel like I'm waiting for Santa's elves to get busy down under (and get my 2004's pipes delivered tongue.gif )! But I'm also curious as to what the general exhaust setups are.
I tried to get most of the known manufacturers to get a good sampling. I must have missed something, so forgive me for the "other" vote.

I had to drill my exhaust because it was free and the bike was way to quiet. For free, I'm very happy. It's not perfect but still sounds very good at various rpms. I may never spend the dough for aftermarket due to the combined sound and looks of the stockers now.
I am patiently waiting for my 5th Gen himount also to be winging it's way across the wide Pacific. I now have a Vance & Hines S4 exhaust on it now, with a stock can collecting dust in my garage along with the original seat and windscreen.
i just purchased a 2001 after seliing my '96 recently. The '01 has a Two Brothers Carbon that will be replaced with a Staintune sus model when this one needs to be repacked.
Had my Staintune since way back when they first started sellng them in the US through CBT Imports, and it's still one of the best quality pipes I have ever laid my eyes on and heard! fing02.gif

I think I have the only VTEC here with Scorpions and that's ok with me! biggrin.gif
I love 'em, stainless construction, no repacking, lifetime warranty, inexpensive and they look and sound great!
I'm glad I chose them over all the other choices available.

I have a Staintune already, but got in on the group buy (swapping my low mount for a high fing02.gif ).
Currently running stock cans but, Remus cans will be replacing them later this summer.
I got in on the group buy. When I ordered them the bike was still put away for the winter but now that I've had it out a couple times the wait is killing me.

Agreed! I used to own the Staintunes, but sold them because the drilled stockers sound great and it just wasn't worth the price for a little difference in sound / power. It did rev a bit quicker with the tunes, though....still not worth the cost to me, however.
I bought my 96 from a guy who had already added a high mount Staintune, along with a handfull of other appropriate mods. I haven't done much but ride. That's good and bad, since I like a project.

While I like the Staintune that was on my bike when I bought it, given the choice I'd opt for a
Neptune, or else either a Scorpion or Remus. I especially like the 'Triton' Neptune makes, as well as the dual-outlet mufflers.
Can anyone point me to info on drilling the OEMs on my 04 ?
I've read the threads about gutting them but can't get away with that where I live. Drilling my be an option.

I like my 2 brothers just fine sounds good to me!
It was onb the bike when I got it. the logo with the skull fits appropiately in with my riding theme. Everything is skulls and wicked patches so the flaming skulls on the 2 brothers emblem fits right in!

No probs, I have a " other " - an ARROW Special Parts Muffler...Looks nic, Sounds meaty but like other Carbon Cans it misses the Staintune's Growl.

"Devil" ehaust endcan, looks and sounds like a Staintune. It also has a removable/replacable insert to make it "road legal". Its only been in once, just to hear what the sound was like. The can had "not for road use" etched on the rear face, but a bit of work with some scotchbrite and metal polish soon got rid of that.
Even with the insert out its not too loud if you take it easy, but boy does it make a beautiful noise when you open up.
Been on the bike 4 yrs now and no signs of corrosion, so pretty happy with it.
When I don't have my stock pipe on, I run my Super Trapp. I switch it out from time to time to hear the wonderful sound of the V-4. It is a universal external disc can. Much shorter than most and has a unique look.

I had a set of Super Trapps on a Chevy 355 and they sounded plain nasty.....sure do miss them. I had entertained the idea of mounting a set on my VTEC but haven't totally convinced myself.
