Hi All, I just got my first VFR! It's a '93 model completely bone stock mechanically. That means all Ca. emissions equipment, and giant rear fender included. I was wondering what I need to do to incorporate the rear turn signals into the tail light assembly. (I think the '95 models came this way) And what should I do with the smog equipment? do I need to lose it all and re-jet the carbs or am I ok with stock. It isn't very hard to do. It has been a while since I did this but this is what I remember.
Open the external turn signals so that you can see what is going on in there. Unplug the sockets from the external r\turn signals. Remove the external turn signals from the bike.
Remove the seat and look inside the tail section. Find the holes where these sockets plug in. Plug the sockets in those holes.
While you are at it, replace the outer red lenses with amber lenses.
Button things up and ride away with a grin on your face.
If I am wrong, it won't be long before someone points out the mistake.

hacking up a bone stock '93 is a sin.
if you gotta change something about the fender, find another one and hack up the one you find.
O.K. fair enough, I don't want to damage or destroy any of the original pieces, I was thinking that there might be some kind of a bolt on fender eliminator thing. I might want to use the GIANT fender in the winter weather, but for now I think the rear end needs to be cleaned up a bit.
Hello, Just a word from an owner of a 1991 VFR...those red turnsignals are on my cycle because I can't find ANY amber ones anywhere. I have been watching ebay for nearly a year now. The law up here in Canada hasn't pulled me over.

There is a guy on the VFR list who might know. Post a question there. I don't remember his name. I am pretty sure that if he is still around, he will just answer.
I used to have some but I sold all the '93 stuff that I had.

Looks completely stock.

holy crap, i had no idea they really had a big ass fender like that or the turn signals that stick out... mine came with the all chopped down i guess. i have actually considered shaving hte turn signals off completely from the rear fenders, more like the new ones... just a dream tho
anyone have more pics of the big butt and turn signals? or of the amber lenses on a 3rd gen?
(IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/beer.gif) Well, it's been a while since I last posted... But the story goes like this: I found a bone stock 93 that I absolutely love! I wanted to tidy up the rear of the bike and maybe add some heated grips, nothing else! Then my wife came to me one sunny day as I was working in the back yard, tears in her eyes... She had knocked my bike over while trying to move it in the driveway... Visions of Ike Turner flashed through my head! But I had no time to waste on such foolishness, my baby was hurt! I found her in the driveway laying on her right side. The damage was bad, but repairable. The exhaust can was now a scratch n dent special, the front brake lever resembled a pretzel, the right side mirror is now a two piece, the upper fairing is rashed, and the lower fairing has signifigant damage. WTF? I thought, it looked like my wife did a full body slam to her! (jealous?...) So now the whole body is being repaired and repainted, I got my grip heaters, changed the clutch plates, deleted all of the smog stuff, installed braided lines everywhere, and did a complete service on her, and while I had it all apart, I relocated the rear signals and shortened the fender a bit. I'll address the muffler shortly, probably aftermarket for a little more growl. I'll try to post a few pics when it's all back together, provided it looks as good as I hope it will!
