Rc30 Replica?

What bike do I have to buy if I wanted to build up an RC30 replica? 3rd gen? (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/comp13.gif)

Paint your 6th gen in the colors and be done. Would look sweet.

I thought of that too, but it's not what I want. Who makes RC bodywork/race 'glass?n And is the 3rd gen a good candidate for it?

Yes, I think the 3rd gen is the right one. I guess you could use a 4th gen as well, because they're so similar.

I can't read it nor do I know if you can still get any of this stuff, but these appear to be 3rd gens with replica body-work (maybe only the tailpiece...)

I agree 3rd or 4th would work. If it were me I'd go 4th gen because you'd be starting with a lighter bike and the frame doesn't have the huge cast vents in it. If your goal is a somewhat accurate replica, those vents are an obvious clue that it aint the real thing. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/wink.gif)

That looks like a good way to go... wonder how hard it will be to retrofit... I'm sure someone has done this before...

(IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/idea3.gif) 4th gen does seem to be the better way to go, and would be best found in beat up condition, to 1) save money on the donor bike and 2) the plastics are getting replaced anyway!

Pferrer was who I thought of too. Agree that a 4th Gen would be the best starting point, but these 3rd Gens have the right colours and rear bodywork:

The RC30 definitely looks like an '80s bike - a bit slab-sided, basic tank shape, older style fairing.

I have wanted to do same thing since I bought a Gen4 which at moment has my VTEC suspension & is my track bike but has all road gear & regoed.

I first bought SP1 front end & Wilbers race shock for that project, but placed it on hold due to secondhand bike market in AUS at moment is give away or keep option & I liked my VTEC to much for that. So the suspension was grafted to the VTEC & my Gen4 became the low cost track bike I have always wanted. I still want to go ahead with RC45 conv to my Gen4 when the time is right to sell my VTEC.

My plans where as follows:
Fit SP1 front
Fit Wilbers rear race shock
Make alloy rear subframe to suit RC45 tail & underseat exhaust.
Retro fit 2 Laser cans to use as underseat exhaust.
Full RC45 body work from Airtech

Find another track bike (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/smile.gif)

*83 VF750 blue/white, to be pearl black/pearl white, F2 fr+rr wheel conversion, 'real' rear shock, upgraded forks(?), Accel coils and wires, K+N, Dynojet Stage 1, custom mid-rise pipes, D.D. oiler, quick-turn throttle, etc. Plans are for a ground-up resto, sandblasted repainted frame, re-wrapped wiring harness, the whole ten yards. Coming this fall/winter to a garage near me (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/cool.gif)

Not working for me.

there was a photo running around here somewhere of a 5th gen with '86-'87 VFR graphics on it, kinda similar, (but it was an actual photo) and looked pretty good.
With some minor changes this could look good.
