All the little tabs that hold the pieces of my tail together are busted up so the back piece with the tail lights is all lose. On top of that the red piece under the tail light has developed a crack. It looks like some of these pieces were replaced by the reprevious owner with parts from a similar VFR? Anyway the whole front of the bike has MINT paint, no evidence of the bike even falling over. My friend manages a body shop and he is going to fix the tail so it is all one piece then repaint it for $250 - $300 since they have been really slow.
Has anyone else done this before?
Where can I find the paint code for the 94 VFR red?
I was thinking of having him paint the mirrors too?
I've actually seen a one-piece, aftermarket tail section for the 94-97's... looks like the stock except all one unit and fiberglass. No idea where it came from (probably a Euro import). My only thoughts about it were although it looked cool, it still used the stock seat, and getting the whole arrangement on and off looked to be a pain.

When you take the tail off now it slides off the back in one piece. As far as molding it to one piece this will not affect the functionality of the seat or taking the tail off the bike.
I've bonded mine into a single unit, it's easy to get on and off. It's normal for 4th Gen rear plastic to break up like yours, it seems to be a combination of neglect (screws get loose & the whole thing starts to shake itself to bits), subframe flex if you carry pillions or a lot of luggage, heat, and vibration.
A few OzVFR guys have also done this with 3rd & 4th Gens.

Good luck with the tail conversion, I think maybe the one-piece unit referred to may have been from Thurn (Germany).
Paint code is on a sticker under the seat, should say R158. It's a bu**er to match though, as there's a base coat and a tricky top coat with the colour and pearl finish in it. Best take it to a decent spray painting outfit and get them to match it if you can.
