I was on my way home from work yesterday in a pouring rain, almost home and noticed the rear brakes were not working, I can press the lever all the way to the stop. I forgot about the problem (soaking wet), and on the way back to work this morning noticed the problem again. Do you guys suppose the master cylinder gave up? There's only 11500 miles on the bike, got it last year from a guy who didn't ride much, think the rain had anything to do with it?

thanks

That's scary. Good thing it was only the rear!
I strongly doubt the rain had anything to do with this--it should not effect lever travel one bit.
Two easy things to check:
Is there any brake fluid?
Did a brake pad fall out?

In addition, there could be a line or fitting problem that is letting a bit of air get into the system. Check the fluid levels and bleed...bleed...bleed.
