Do Silverstars pull more electricity than standard stock bulbs?

Huh?

Unless the fittings are different from the European 94-97, you've been truly screwed over.

The US models have a slightly different base inside the headlamp. The Euro models accept a standard H4 bulb. In the USA they ae a specialty bulb. It is a standard H4, just with a different tab spacing configuration.

As many have mentioned, you just need to bend off one of the tabs. There are two other options. First, buy a Euro model headlamp (I did when mine cracked...damn rocks...) or if your search the archive or webring you'll find a company in the statest that makse an adapter ring which allows the H$ to fit without bending tabs.

Naything to make a few bucks and protect their dealer networks.

one note on Silverstar's, they have a low hour life. I always save my receipt and try to get free replacements on them. They only last a few months in my car, but the store backs them for a year.

Yes the hour life is low. That is why I always go PIAA with a lifetime warranty. Can't beat it.
