i had to make one of these for my old 89 ninja and liked it so well i thought id make one for my vfr. i cant stand teh thought of the tank getting scratched to hell, especially below the gas cap as im always having to set thing there. yes i know about tank slappers, but i went for the look here not invisability.
the pics dont show it as well as its nasty outside and i didnt want to pull the bike out of my shed. its a bit shiny as i put armer-all on it but the shiny will wear off fast enough. btw its all hand stitched by me and designed also. the shinyness and lack of full size pics make me not so thrilled about it. but once i get a good full outside view and the gloss is worn off i think ill like it more. so yeh or ney?
Dutchy, Oct 17 2006, 01:10 PM Bra's are for tits..... in more than one way wheel.gif
i gots no tits, nor a lady to provide them for me. so i dress my bike up in scantily cloths and fondle her. blink.gif
i take it you like it muskabeer? ill be able to tell if i do when i actually get the bike out and see it in its full glory. would have been easier to make if i had a sewing machine, but thats usually weird for a guy to own so im left with hand stitching and it took several hours at that.plus trial fittings took some time also.
im not sloppy at all as im carefull to never get gas on paint. if it gets on the bra it should wipe right off unless it gets in a seam or underneath were the padding is. this should protect the tank from fuel, keys and me from humping it so much lol
Hobie1dog, Oct 17 2006, 01:47 PM Good job on it . beer.gif beer.gif
kool ty! so i take its 1-nay 2-yeh
its not so much my feelings i dont care to get them hurt or i wouldnt have posted it. but if it doesnt look right or takes away from the looks of teh bike i wanna know. so if you dont like how it looks on the bike pls speak up,of course if you like it and would use it say so also.
im not selling these or anything its just my own personal use.
I like how it only covers the areas of the tank that are going to get wear. Unlike some other tank bras that are freakin huge. Your's is quite simply and looks very nice.
I donot believe that normal use will scratch the paint, unless the Honda's paint quality has deteriorated after 1997 production. If you need to clench the tank so hard that you are afraid it scratches the paint, so should not attempt doing 100mph in a 40mph turn. biggrin.gif
Fuel lock? Unless you have a tendency to carelssly slam the other keys on the keyring on the tank, no problem.
Which leaves us with looks. Forget "Re-Sale"... did you buy it because you wanted it, lusted it,want to ride it, or did you buy it to sell it. wink.gif
Where were were? Right looks! There can be only one judge here, you.
As a styling hint..... in Europa, especially in Italy, NOBODY wear bra's.... fing02.gif It just looks plain wrong.
Good job with that bra. I do notice though that your version seems to have a more "bondage" type of flavor to it for some reason, compared to the regular bras. It must be the way the tank is peeking through in betweent the strips of vinyl. That's it! just add some chains and loop a big whip around the tank and you're good to go!

I'm not worried about scratches. My problem is that the asphalt bikes don't like being rubbed in one place too much. The flat black paint starts to buff up and turn shiny, not good.

OK, 1 (one) argument in favour fing02.gif matt black paint.... biggrin.gif

Yes I like it, when you see it out in it's full glory and if you don't like it. Let me know I'll pay for shipping and have my mother law stitch it up with a sewing machine. I'll slap that on my bike goofy.gif
ok so of those answers where the funniest stuff ive heard/read all day! tongue.gif
i did try and make it as minamalistic as possible as too much material hides true beauty. i do get careless with my keys and have about 8 on my ring and they all rest on the paint and over time i feel will look horrible paint wise,as i plan on keeping this for years. resale isnt an issue due to this and it will be worth hardly anything when im done riding the life out of it. serously how many bikes out there are they you can afford and will do what you want and looks like the vfr? 1 imo and its a sideways move imo.
im not gonna knock italian ladies as they are some of the best, but perky looking boobs never hurt anyone.
i didnt notice it about the bondage look, but your right. ok that settles it,it stays unless it looks out of place when i take it out for a ride and see it in full perspective. i wish i could add some chains and cuffs as ive been known to be a little on the "wild side" btw i hope to get custom plates reading "FRIEK" for the bike. but ill admit in no way was i aiming for the "bondage" look.i was just trying to follow its natural curves and cover the wear spots.
muskabeer-i promise if i take it off and dont use it its yours.a good sewing machine treatment wouldnt hurt.but i dont mind the homemade look knowing the time invested. it goes on by just takeing the hex's out of the gas cap and put it under that, and the outer ends are all held down by velcro attached under the tank.so no adhesive will ever mess anything up.
i could add trim.but that akes it look busy and not so simple. i started doing some "VFR" lettering below the gas cap.but the lettering needed hours of edge treament by hand.and embroidering would take just as many hours.
when i get it out, hopefully tomorrow ill try and snap a few pics so it can be seen in a full profile pic.
backing is just the cloth backing the vinyl has on it.its never hurt my ninjas tank.
