first of all my question is when people swap bulbs are they doing all 4? i mainly ride daylight hours now but will slowly be adding night time rides in the spring. so being ill mainly be useing my high beams during the day wouldnt it look odd if i only do 2 bulbs? i wanna do 4 but wanted to ask.
also in the wiring mod,im not so keen on that outcome. since i ride during the day 4 high beams arent necessary per-se but id rather have brighter low beams by useing the rear filamint.so i could basically just swap the 1 wire per bulb and get this result. and not have to go threw the relay rewire. the way i look at it is the low beam deflectors are angled differant than the high beam deflectors above. so basically i am just getting more output and further down the road.
i did this on a car once that had 4 seperate bulbs and i used 4x high beams to just get extra wattage. when i would point the car at a wall for adjustments the lows were still pointed low and very differant from the highs angle wise. if i do ride at night its mainly country roads and backroads so cops arent much an issue.
if this proves too much i can always put it back to normal as the silverstars should throw enough light all by themselves anyhow.
What is the total Watts change of your mod? I fear that adding constant extra load on the Vtecs wiring can lead(sooner) to the elec. woes with the wiring harness! (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/huh.gif)
my plan will only differ from this: http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/Vtec-He...ived-t9888.html
Descrition of stock Vtec light operation.
With the switch in the low beam position the forward (low beam) filaments of the lower bulbs are illuminated. As you switch to the high beams, the upper 2 bulbs illuminate, while the 2 lower bulbs remain in the same state they were in during low beam operation (fwd filament on).
Descrition of operation after we modify it for greater output, while maintaining the same current draw (negligable extra load on the system)
With the switch in the low beam position the forward (low beam) filaments of the lower bulbs are illuminated. As you switch to the high beams the upper 2 bulbs illuminate and the lower bulbs forward (low beam) filaments go out. At the same time the aft (high beam) filaments of the lower bulbs illuminate.
and what i want to do is use the lower bulbs full time and the rear filament when teh lows are on. and when i put the highs on the rear filament stays lit and the highs kick on also.
its very similier to teh mod i linked but my low beams will just use teh rear 60w filament 100% of the time.
so in the end it should be more than 10w added drain at most at any time. his way is a 0w added drain on lows and 10w added drain on highs.
and for deathstar.... the low beam remains factory with factory pattern ect.... only on high beam does it switch filaments and uses 4 bulbs like factory. it just jumps to the unused filament and projects a further pattern. you still use the same # of filaments as stock at all times, and will only notice the difference on high beam
next....change all 4. silverstars are the sh&%!!!!
Deathstar13, Oct 23 2006, 11:09 PM h4 low beam bulbs are 55/60w the h7 highs are 55w

a second to slow
you can just move the bulb connector like you say... but you may run into legal or on comming car issues as your lower beams will always be in a high beam pattern
ok ill deffinetly do all four then. ill try it with the 60w rear filaments and see what reactions i get. as i said i did it on a car before without any issues.but that doesnt mean it will be perfect in this application either. id bet someone will still not see me in the daytime with 4 high beam silverstars burning thier retinas out and still pull out in front of me. i like modding my stuff but i like it to look stock when done, just not act stock.
